Its pretty clear from watching the team that there appears to be a clear power struggle between Isiah and Larry. I could write 100 pages on why and maybe we get into that but I have a little theory.
Isiah will be fired.
Allan Houston will be hired as GM.

H2O is very close with Dolan. They are golf buddies and share other personal interests.
H2O is a great community guy. He's well spoken, good looking, likable and so friendly it almost hurts.
H2O was a good fundamental player but was also a coach's son. He grew up recognizing fundamentals and the importance of team play. Does this qualify him or instantly make him a good GM? Of course not, but if your looking for a prospect that hasn't had the job before he certainly has some good qualities.
H2O has a squeaky clean image and that's not a bad thing for MSG right now
H2O was referred to by LB as the Knick's best player. The guy never played for him. Hmm.

Maybe down the road but not any time soon. He would have to work his way up. They wouldn't just make him president.

Houston does not have the balls to be a GM. You have to have a certain mentality to be able to fire people and have a ruthless persistence to get deals done.

hey...what did kiki do before he became gm? he was an assistant coach with the mavericks for one season and then he gets handed the reigns in denver. he did ok and he's pretty mild mannered.

A team with the money we have shouldn't be hiring question mark GMs. We should overpay to get the very best. Denver's in a very different situation

That will just be great..Larry will get his way then we will begin to trade our young guns for the likes of Ratliff,Snow and other veteran has beens. Larry isn't interested in building from the bottom...He won't be here that long...Larry is a very good coach but if you guys think that Larry the GM would be good for the Knicks, your dreaming...I know you said H20...But If Isiah is pushed out, it's so that Larry could have his way...If thats the case, see you in 2011 when Larry's contract is up.

yea, Houston is a mild mannered guy, but he was also an accomplished scorer in this league, a competitor and a clutch player, you have to have some ice water in your veins to have the level of success Houston had. I think he is a class act, I met him once and he was a nice guy, took pictures with my wife and kidd, was truly a good guy to meet. Now again this does not mean he will be a good GM, but what the heck, this guy has been a class act all his life, but he is also a mentally tough individual, we need that...

he might be mild mannered, but he's mentally tough- I cite his career and sometimes clutch performance

Thats exactly why Houston would have to work his way up. Knicks would try and get the highest profile guy available. Maybe Houston would then get a job in the frontoffice as a scout or something and work his way up to GM.

Fish- I like it. Great idea- if he gets hired, you should get the finders fee or a portion there of!

sure. i'd rather give petrie, buford, walsh, or thorn a 5 year $30 mil deal like jerome "waste of human plasma" james. but if we can't get the very best, then we can go for a lesser "name". how does isiah fit into the "very best" argument?

You're really changing the topic. I didn't even comment on whether Isiah fits that category. That depends on the off-topic issue of how we evaluate his past--a tangent that really deviates from the topic of this thread.

first, someone calls for Kenny Smith... now Allan Houston... you know it's a SAAAAAD state of affairs when people believe that hiring someone w/absolutely no experience whatsoever in running an NBA franchise is a better option than Isiah Thomas.

Houston is a good guy, and it's been well documented that he's pretty darn intelligent, but this is something that we'd have no clue of what the results could be. I think NewYork is 100% correct that he would have to work his way up. Maybe be a scout or an assistant coach.

there are always cases like this - kiki and chris mullin are just two of them. both played for the teams they are running right now. h20 would just be another one and they didn't that bad a job. and not for nothing, h20 would actually get GOOD press here despite his moves. the media loves him. that may turn out to be an important part of the equation. it's also another reason why i wouldn't bring ewing back here as he is remembered in a more negative light as someone who wasn't good enough to win the whole thing.

fish is just throwing out an idea but there's precedence to it.
