basically we wouldve sent crawford and ariza out for earl watson and byron rusell--a deal where Denver wouldve acquired steve francis and orlando nene and crawford

Interesting...but you know how quickly "dead" deals tend to rise from the dead again.

If that is infact true then thank god that deal is dead because the Knicks were getting hosed. LB must really have had it with Craw.

I would do Watson for Craw in a second. We need a backup point and Watson has one less year on his deal.

If we're gonna participate in a deal that helps out Denver so much in the same year that we have their draft pick, they should give us more compensation. On the other hand, it would be great to get rid of Jamal. Russell would probably be bought out and we'd have a free roster spot.

I would agree but as much as I've been hard on Crawford and Reezy they are much more skilled players then Watson. Besides, I thought the Knicks already got there backup PG in Rose?

Is Watson's basketball IQ above negative 40? If so, I'd do the deal but I'd want more from Denver (see above)

When you announce that one your players was about to be traded, you are almost forced to deal him at that point. You almost never hear about a player trade dying and that player ending up staying with the original team for much longer. I bet we make a deal with Denver without Orlando involved.

Earl Watson's profile from hoopshype
Great quickness... Superb defender... Excellent leaping skills... Takes care of the ball... Decent mid-range shot... Not a threat from beyond the arc... Lacks playmaking skills other point guards have... Works hard.
Can we just do Jamal for Earl?! Maybe we can a pick out of it too, but I'd do the deal without a pick

I wonder what made it die? It was probably a good deal for all teams, but i think we neede to be compensated with a pick--perhaps 2 2s or a 1 from somebody in the future atleast, no? Maybe Steve Francis pulled an artest and didnt want to go.

I definately agree with that. The Knicks should get the picks from Orlando while Franis is the biggest player being traded in the deal, I think the Knicks are giving up the most in 2 players 25 and under. I'd take the 2 2's or the 1 First.

I want Nene and they obviously want to get rid of him. Would you include David Lee to get Nene? Nene has much more upside and can play the 4 and 5 solidly. I like Lee a lot but he doesn't fit any position very well.

denver didnt want craw.

orlando was getting nene and craw, so that is not bad compensation. Jamal C isnt Steve--you needed 3 to tango here.

but whoever leaked out dead deal is still trying to make a deal.

It sounds like the reporter was just throwing out the names that were involved. I don't think we should assume no draft picks were involved.

Yeah, I bet those kinds of things are holding up the trade...Isiah probably leaked the trade to disrupt the Nuggets so we can get a higher pick!

its possible orlando found out Nene wants a max contract or something of that ilk--usually thats what kills a deal with an FA.
