Can Frye be a good defensive player?

OK, Frye is a telented offensive player. The problem we all have is his defense.

He's slow footed. His lateral movement is quite bad. He can't guard big men out on the perimeter. He doesn't box out. He doesn't rebound or block shots much. He's not a good help defender. Right now, he's a defensive liability.

Now, can he turn into a good defender in the NBA one day? If, yes, can you give me an example of a poor defensive big man turning into a solid defender over time.

We should hope he and Curry each reach a point where they're not defensive liabilities. Expecting them to become good defensive players is asking too much IMO. They don't see things happening quickly enough. Call it poor information processing speed or be less technical and call it poor instincts. If they become average defenders, they can help the team win big time because both can be great offensive players.
