can anyone fill me in regarding this guys upside? i don't have access to watch the knicks living overseas, but looking at the stats he seems very productive per-minute. is the the answer in terms of a long-term backup at center, power forward, who can fill in capably in case of injury? is he better than that? or is he a stop-gap? curious...seems like a good player and a very shrewd pick-up. thanks. eg

He seems like our best defensive option at Center, but he's a bit slow sometimes. He's definitely a great pickup, but he won't be a key player. Good bargain, good bench player.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Danny Fortson with some post moves and a jumper. I think thats pretty good. Potentially a very strong player off the bench for 20 minutes a night

Upside?

Jackie is only 20 years old.

How many of us mastered our chosen professions at 20 years old?

wow wow.... that was his opinion to honestly just stop with the damn F'ing talking and being so over dramatic so quickly. i hate reading in this board bc it honestly feels like a bunch of 10 year olds just making up trades that 99% would never even happen bc its so lopsided. whats the upside of this player? what can we get for this player? this trade and that trade when a player doesnt have a steller game or series of games. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! the people that really need to change are the mentalities of these damn impatient and ignorant fans that populate this forum and that populate this city. everything is so fast past in nyc, with wall street and the way things run in nyc, if things arent going right, right away, everything needs to change 180 degrees. i cant tell u how many 'larry brown should be fired' posts and threads i've seen. Butler looked pretty good the few times I saw him, certainly better than any other 20 year old centers I can think of. I don't think he's destined for the all-star team but with nice coaching and significant playing time, he might turn into a keeper. I think, given his position, he's got a lot of upside.

Currry32 - what you said.

egelband - at first glance, Jackie Butler looks a bit stiff in his movements but he knows where he is in the paint and has a variety of post moves. He catches the ball well and seems to nderstand the limits of his range. He does not take bad shots often.

He is blocking shots with more regularity, as he did in high school, and that is a good sign. His position as a back up to Eddy is gaining some steam as he adds minutes.

The reason I mention his age is because at only 20 he's barely played baskteball for a little over a year at a high level of competition. The CBA is cute but it isn't the NBA.

Jackie is already a productive player which is a good thing. He is listed at 260 but looks a bit lighter than last season.

As most of the yoots learning on the job, he will make his share of mistakes but he does not force shots and seems to move with a quickness that is camoufalged by his slumped shoulders.

Jackie is a similar shrewd pick up to Qyntel Woods, who also happens to be shooting over 50 per cent from the field and over 40 per cent from three point range. That is another positive sign.

I like Jackie.

I like Qyntel.

Then again, I like a good story.

Marv - c'mon, you survived four years of Scott Layden on a show treadmill.

It's the first week of February in Larry Brown's first season

We have some new crayons and some colors that have yet to blend together. I choose to visualize the increased frequency of bright moments over the next few days and after the All Star break.

Marbury returns in better health. djsunyc will testify the Minneota game was ours before Stephon was injured. It's been downhill and trouble since he got hurt. The turnovers area direct result of pressing Nate and JC into a lederdership role before their time. That's a fact Jack.

Jalen plays two guard, contarry to what Larry says. steadies the backcourt and the turnovers are reduced once he learns the plays. I look forward to see how he and Marbury will share the pill

Qyntel looks for his shot at the three with QRich in the wings

Frye and Lee split time at the four spot.

Curry and Jackie share the center position.

Jerome James removes the neck brace and actually plays some basketball in March.

Well, I may be unmanly, but I might not be around for another five years or a decade or century or however long it takes this wobegone franchise to turn things around. I might lose interest.

Guys, what about Jackie at the 4?? He may just be the banger that's needed to play alongside Curry. Eddy had his best games when AD was occupying the bigs with his physical play.

Now what about this s**t - Curry at the 5, Jackie at the 4 and Frye at the 3??? I know we lose out on athleticism, but just picture Frye having his way offensively with any 3, being a much stronger presence on the boards, blocking shots. Lots of size wih this frontline.
