I think it's the fact that our players are not fundamentally sound, it's difficult to concentrate on learning the basics AND learn LB's defense at the same time. Unfortunately most of these players are learning how to play the game(other than dribbling betweent he legs and dunking) for the first time in their lives. It's perfectly fine for them to ask for simplification. I've had that before and that's fine.

But when you ask to simplify there are no more excuses after that's done. YOu are saying that your excuse for not playing D is because it was too hard to understand. Fine. If I dummy it down, now you have no more excuses.
