I knew Eddy Curry was known for not getting many assists, but after doing a bit of research, I am astonished. Here are some of my findings, including a comparison with Patrick Ewing, just for the hell of it:

-- Curry is averaging only 0.2 assists per game this season. He has just 8 assists in 944 minutes. (He had just 6 all year before managing 2 against the Lakers on Tuesday night.)

-- Curry averages 0.34 assists per 40 minutes.

-- Patrick Ewing averaged 1.9 assists for his career. But in his first 12 seasons, Ewing averaged 2.1 assists per game. Ewing averaged at least 2.0 assists per game in 7 of 9 seasons from 1988-89 through 1996-9, averaging a career-high 3.0 assists in 1990-91.

-- Ewing averaged 2.2 assists per 40 minutes for his career -- or 6 1/2 times more than Curry is averaging this year. In his first 12 seasons, Ewing averaged at least 2.0 assists per 40 minutes 11 times (he averaged 1.9 in his second season).

-- I guess all this explains why every time I look at a Knicks boxscore, I see a "0" in Curry's assists column. After all, Curry averages just 1 assist per every 7 games -- or an assist every two weeks.

-- Put it this way: Before exploding for his 2 assists vs. L.A., Curry had gone 10 straight games without an assist, and had just 1 assist in his previous 15 games, and just 3 assists in his last 29 games (a 2 1/2-month span, from Nov. 13 to Jan. 30).

Or...

-- In 29 of his 35 games this season, Curry has failed to record a single assist.

That is incredible.
