It's getting pathetic that everytime a player goes through a slump, we have to trade him. Now everybody is proposing to trade Frye? Newsflash folks. He's gonna be a real good player. He's a real good pick and he appears to be a real hard worker. Same thing with everyone else. NY fans are so impatient, it's freaking annoying.

Its not a negative knock on frye

Frye is a real good kid and it appears that he is a hard worker. Problem is he is not a good fit to be a running mate with curry.

Frye would net a high value return. We dont have much of that. We can either gamble that Curry and frye will become shot blockers/rebounders and learn how to play defense or we can idenitfy players who are more advanced in terms of D+R and shot blocking.
I like the idea of trading Frye for a Shelden Williams pick, I think it can be done. Frye is a good player/nice kid with a bright future, I think we need a diffrent type of guy since we have curry long term with bIG $

I don't know anything about Sheldon Williams but I actually agree with Briggs that on defense Curry and Frye are a bad combo and Frye has high trade value. If Curry gets in shape, he'll move a lot quicker on defense. But I don't think either player will ever be the intimidating presence on defense that you need from 1 of the 2 big frontcourt positions (PF/C). We don't have to trade Frye if we want him to be a 6th man with Curry starting and want to get a quick defensive PF, but Frye does have much higher trade value than most players on the roster. Chandler would have come a lot cheaper 2 weeks ago and we could have kept Frye. Stro Swift might be a cheap solution. Same with Eddie Griffin if you're willing to take some bad contracts from Minn. I think we could get those players and keep Frye and Curry. But you'd want Frye and Curry both on the court together for only limited minutes.

i think that to go far in the playoffs, you need at least THREE viable big men. we have two right now. there's no need to move frye b/c we still have to obtain another one. worse comes to worst, what's wrong with a guy like frye coming off the bench for instant offense?

i agree that we are long ways away from frye AND curry starting together but there's no reason why they can't be on the same team.

one HUGE offseason priority is to find a veteran PF/C that can play defense and rebound to replace AD.

I agree that we don't need to trade Frye, but he is not the right player now to start with Curry and I doubt he will ever be. If we can get a fairly cheap good shot-blocker like one of the three I mentioned and keep Frye as a sixth man and try to develop Frye's defensive skills, that would be ideal. But I understand Briggs' view too. Frye is a hyped up rookie whose trade value may never be as high as it is right now.

Like I said, I would use Frye Nate our pick and cash to get my hands on Sheldan Williams and Aaron Gray. I look at our team right now as fix one problem at a time--it's going to take 2-3 years to fix it IF they get a clue. I dont care if we lose for a couple of years, I just want to see a different -balanced type of rebuild. That would give us Williams Lee Gray Curry as a nice young, long term frontline foundation that has balance.

And He's been putting on muscle, has anyone else noticed he's adding bulk to his frame? I think thats what has his shot off.

As knick fans we should remember that Frye is a rookie ( a very good one ). Let him develop, lets be patient...we have waited a long time to have a young talented team . I do agree it's no pretty seeing them play but it's better than having a bunch of no heart no love and old type of players like we used to have.

I want to let Frye develop but we NEED to add a quick, shotblocking PF/C like one of the ones I mentioned above. Maybe Steven Hunter would have been a half decent short term solution before he was traded. I doubt they'll trade him again.

Two weeks ago when Chandler was strugglinf, I suggested that the Knicks move Lee and maybe Penny's expiring contract for him. I knew he was much better than what he was showing during his slump. If you saw Chandler last year when he played wit Curry, he was a terrific role player. Averaged nearly 10 rbunds and 2 blocks not to mention 9 pts. He's 23 yrs old and can run like a SF. Curry, Chandler and Frye would be a great 3 heade monster.

I know Chandler has along contract but getting him would be the first step of many. As much as I like Marbury, he doesnt fit with this young rebuilding mix of players. Moving Marbs contract for expiring contracts and a draft pick will help with the salary cap.
Then move Ariza, Butler and spurs pick for JR Smith which gives us an athletic 6'6 220 legit SG.

Use the pick from the marb trade to hopefully land Marcus Williams.

Marcus Williams
JR Smith/Craw
Q Woods/Q Rich
Chandler/Frye
Curry
Not bad line up of young players. Then next year, Rahsard Lewis may become available and use Taylors expiring deal along with hometown boy Crawford (I'd even throw Nate into the trade) and plug Lewis in a SF.
"Man, who knows with this team." Aguirre.
