Jamal Crawford for Michael Olowokandi's exp. contract. Not sure the Celtics would do it, but they are thinking about simply buying out 'Kandi. This would at least give them some scoring. I've completely given up on Jamal and would prefer to just have a free roster spot after this year and maybe get another Q Woods, Jackie Butler level player.

I know this move wouldn't turn around the franchise but it would be a nice start to getting rid of one very soft player and potentially replacing him with a tougher one. If no team will give up an expiring contract for him, maybe they'll give up a player with only 2 years left on their contract.

Yes. Can we get a 1st rounder with that?

I think we'd be lucky just to get an exp. contract for Jamal considering how much money he has left on his contract.

At this point I would trade Craw for anything. He looks completely lost out there. Never seen so many bad decisions. Very low IQ on the court and he is in such a slump right now I think he should sit a few games.

Craw, Ariza, Q1, JJ all need to go.

not w/o a pick i don't... Jamal is just lost, but he's got talent... this whole team looks like crap right now... you don't give away young talent for an expiring contract unless doing so will allow you to sign an impact free agent in the offseason... that trade does nothing to improve the Knicks.

The problem is that the Knicks still wouldn't be under the cap, they have no picks or cap room, so they would have no ability to replace him.

I am on the verge of saying yes to something like this trade. Jamal is talented, but a defensive minus in almost any situation you put him in and just doesn't seem to get it.

I think Crawford for Ruben Patterson is a more realistic trade. Patterson has one extra year on his contract than Olowkandi.

Who would you rather have: Qyntel Woods or Jamal Crawford? If Qyntel, why do you think Isiah couldn't find someone at Qyntel's level to replace Jamal if he had an extra roster spot?

Jamal Crawford is still a better player than Qyntel Woods at this point in his career... who would i rather have? it all depends on how the rest of the team is constructed... i've been saying from the beginning of the season that either Marbury or Crawford needs to be traded to create a better balance on this roster.

as for Isiah finding another young player like Woods or Dermarr Johnson w/another empty roster spot, that's a separate issue... you don't make trades based on that type of logic... you have to consider exactly what it is that you're giving up, & what it is that you're getting back... do i think the Knicks make out well on that trade you proposed? no i don't.

Why trade Jamal just b/c you've given up on him. He has improved big time on one of his biggest knocks. Shot selection. He's not a pure PG. If you can accept that, and realize he's a combo guard who can take the ball up the court and his best attributes are scoring, then you'll appreciate him. Maybe this summer he'll improve more by bulking up a bit so he can improve his D. This is a bad thread. You don't give up good talent for an expiring contract, when you're way over the cap. If you want to trade Jamal, you gotto help yourself and try to get some talent back. Not plain old crap.

So you finally admit that the Crawford trade was a mistake? And that all that money for a supposed 6th man is ridiculous?

I think Jamal could really be a perfect sixth man. He needs to learn consistency.

And "all that money" is a copout. He's not really making that much comparably - even to other sixth men in the league. Hell, even compared to other 9th and 10th men (some of them on our team). When Jamal plays his best, he's worth more than his contract. When he doesn't, he's worth less. Average it out, and you get a reasonable deal.

Nothing bothers me about the Crawford deal, considering what we gave up. Curry on the other hand...

During the winning streak, you started to hear Jamal being touted as 6th Man of the Year. Now, he's relegated to addition by subtraction? Clearly, his value is somewhere inbetween. I wouldn't mind moving him, but not until he's playing a little better and we can get something back.

And Woods is better than Craw? Based on what, 5 or so pretty good games by Q. Come on! Craw avgd. 17 ppg last year, and close to that the year before. He's an established NBA talent. Q is a reclamation project who's doing well now but is far from proven.

A small mistake considering how little we gave up, but yes it would have been better to get a solid, smarter, tougher (perhaps less talented) player with the assets we used to get Jamal. You were right and Isiah and I were wrong on that trade. Congratulations...

There, now was that so hard? There might be hope for you yet. Even Bonn can't ignore the problems that are plaguing the Knicks now.

Right now the team needs much tougher players. I'm sure Isiah realizes this and realizes his mistakes in not putting together a tougher team. I'm sure he and Brown will do trades to get tougher players we need if Dolan allows him to take back more salary.

Why in the world would you trade a player whose value is at an all time low? Wait it out - cap space is not available. Let him get back to 18 and 4 as the starting shooting guard next year. Chances of getting a better player via the waiver wire are scant.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.
Would you do this Jamal trade?
