Can't say I disagree, Simrud.
But the problem is, corporations are the ones that really fuel MSG. They're the ones that lease the suites and buy most of the season tix. And they are going nowhere. To me, that is the biggest difference in pro sports over the last couple of decades. It's no longer about pleasing the average sports fan. It's about pleasing the corporations.
But, I suppose if people stopped watching the games on TV and stopped buying Knicks paraphernelia, it would help some. It would be great if an effort could be organized to do just that: Pick one Knicks game, and start a serious campaign to get fans to not watch. Send press releases to the media, call in to WFAN, etc., to promote it.
You might recall that in 1978, NY Giants fans hired a private plane to fly over the Meadowlands with a sign that read: "15 YEARS OF LOUSY FOOTBALL - WE'VE HAD ENOUGH." Fans also held a bonfire outside Giants Stadium and burned their season tickets.
We could use that sort of passion right now.
Knicks fans simply should not tolerate this. Don't watch the games, and certainly don't buy tickets or buy Knicks gear. There are far too many other options in New York for entertainment (sports and otherwise). In a couple of weeks, we get pitchers and catchers. Hallelujah.
