NEW ORLEANS (CNNSI.com) -- The New Orleans Hornets have re-signed star point guard Baron Davis, a team source told SI's Marty Burns.
An announcement is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
The team offered Davis, scheduled to become a restricted free agent next summer, a six-year extension last month.
At one point, the former UCLA standout said he'd rather be traded to a place like Los Angeles, Chicago or New York than move with the team from Charlotte to New Orleans. But Bob Bass, Hornets vice president for basketball operations, has said he rejected all offers and did not intend to deal Davis under any circumstances.
A Los Angeles native, Davis had been set to make $3.9 million next season. He averaged 18.1 points and 8.5 assists during the past regular season. In the playoffs he averaged 22.6 points, 7.9 assists and 7 rebounds.
This really sucks. I wish Davis had held out for a trade, guess we wont be seeing him play for the Knicks after all...
I came here to drink beer and kick some ass, and we're almost out of beer...
