I was going to just use one of the other threads but this needed a new thread.

First of all i wanna know who watches games and who just looks for the stats to come out? Qyntel Woods is the real deal. Go to http://aol.nba.com/knicks/ and check the highlights of the game.

Check Woods handle, quickness and passing ability and watch Woods step in and screen Craws man for the jummper on the first play you see. Then I want you guys to see him create space for a long jumper.

Check his defense...just look at how focused the dude is on defense in the small clip. Liek night and day from when he got here.

Dude does not force anything and he is not demanding the ball yet....but you can see that Woods could easily take over a game offensively but he is playing within the team.

If you saw any of the last 3 games you can also see Woods ability to rebound. The ability to hold your ground box out and put a strong body up there to get the tough rebound....but then have the skill to actually score or make something else happen.

Yeah man Woods is the real fu cking deal. This guy is going to blow up! I bet he'll be worth 40 mil by the end of this season

I don't THINK this post was sarcastic because everything you said was pretty much true. So as long as you weren't joking, I 100% agree. I love the way this kid is playing. He came in here with a freakin gorilla on his back. No one was expecting him to be an impact player, but at the same time this was a big point in his career. He finally got another chance after getting in trouble with the law, and he's learning from one of the best. He's out there doing his thing man. Everything you said is 100% true. Hopefully this kid sticks and doesn't become a victim of Brown's lineup changes but if he does, I bet we sign him for half the MLE in the offseason.

Yeah I was impressed with him last night. I'm a little surprised too. I really haven't been expecting much. i'm not as sold yet as you, though. I don't know how consistently that jumper is going to fall.

You know what impressed me on the clips - that he ran with Jamal on the steal and was there for the put-back if he missed. I remember that play but didn't know who was with him. I swear half our losses would have been wins if we rebounded offensively (and hit free throws of course).

But I'll keep more of an eye on Q2. Man if he keeps this up he and Lee could be quite a pair at the 3, don't you think?

It's been hard letting go of expectations for Reezy this year. I kow now I gotta give him more time, but I had expected him to be giving consistentlty what we saw out of Q2 last night.

The talent is obviously there with Woods. If he can stay out of trouble and stay focussed on basketball (big if), he can be significant long-term piece. If not, it's not like we gave up anything valuable to get him.

Those of you who follow posts back to December 6 KNOW where I stand on Qyntel. Too many people look at only the superficial stat sheet or won-loss column to evaluate improvement. It is a gradual process that requires patience and plenty of love. Anyone with kids understands that clearly.

The Knicks are a bunch of kids just learning to walk. Count all the players logging significant minutes who are UNDER 25 and then tell me how fast they should congeal into a playoff contender/ championship calibre team.

I like Woods and the foresight and courage it required to sign him

The coaching staff for all the criticism is clearly developing these guys. David ripped the sF position away from a couple guys. Now Q2 has ripped it away from DAvid even though David was playing well. Now Q2 has taken it to another level. Now hopefully David will continue to play well and rip it back. This is why you just don't give rookies minutes. This competition is how players develop.

Yeah I thought that play where he trailed Craw just showed how great a shape he is in and his mentality on not to give up on a play. He doesn't look tired just like Spree used to.

Another thing I like about Woods is even if he doesn't take a shot, he requires defensive attention.

I'm not worried at all about off the court stuff. If the guy can just stay healthy who knows what we will be looking at in March. By March he could be more comfortable and the rest of the team as well as Larry Brown could trust him more to be more active shooting the ball. He's just got to be lucky and not get a freak injury. Alot of times when guys are finally turning the corner they always get a stupid injury that sidelines them. I just hope he can stay out there and continue to improve.

Ariza should be doing what Woods is doing. Ariza is still young but this is the NBA. He is a swing man. Everyone in the league at his position is better than Ariza from a skill standpoint. Ariza gets by on his athletic ability.

I guess trading for Jalen can be shelved unless he will be replacing Q-Rich. Right now Q-Rich is the weakest link. If the dude can just breakout of this massive shooting slump he would solidify the team.

Thank God for Woods though. I can't wait to see him play Andre from Philly tonight. I just hope Brown continues to start Woods.

Qyntel seems to have learned from sitting out, that if he doesn't shape up he will be back at home. This has a way of motivating people who feel entitled. I get the feeling that Ariza feels entitled to playing time and hasn't figured out entirely that his time is determined by his improvement. It remains to be seen. He needs to follow the lead of david Lee. Have a great attitude, practice hard, do what the coach tells you, improve your game and the minutes will eventually come. But as a young player, you are entitled to NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well now it's clear before it was just madness with the starting cuz of the hometowns and the burring of David Lee in the inactive for no apparent reason, etc.....

I do agree that through competition and having guys fighting for playing time just makes the team better. Right now Woods is at the top of the food chain. Brown should keep him there untill he feels someone else is better.

Malik Rose must be kidnapped or something....we gotta stop Brown from calling his number. Those are David Lees minutes. Lee is clearly better than Malik.

Right now it seems the line-ups are solidified. I just hope that When AD comes back to the team in Philly that he is not all of a sudden the starter again. AD is terrible. Taylor and Frye are clearly better than him as well.

The only thing is Q-Rich man.....Brown is letting him play to show the Knicks need a outside threat to start the game.....Q-Rich is that guy. He already proved that last year. He is in a terrible slump. If Q-Rich starts to knock down his shots that would make the Knicks hard to beat.

That's why I have been saying send Ariza to the D-league. Ariza hasn't gotten better. He has got to pay his dues and earn his spot. Just because he dunked on a few people does not mean he has made it. He should not be entitled to anything.

I really don't think there should be any more worries about Q2 lapsing back to his old ways, He seems like a smart talented kid who has learned his lessons and will be a good GOD from now on, he has the best teachers as well as a situation were he sees that if he falls someone else is gonna jump in, so that should keep him very focused from now on.

I must admit I wasn't a believer and I have in the past not been on-board with Q2...But the last few games have humbled me and now I must say how wrong I have been...I'm just loving the job this kid is doing and let's hope he continues to improve....Good Job Q2...

I'm sure Qyntel has measured his love of dog fighting against his love of playing basketball and earning a good living, and decided he prefers basketball. He got busted and knows there's a heavy price to pay, so I don't think he'll screw up again.

I have always like Woods and hope he continues to improve. As for Reezy, I like him too but I am disappointed that he didn't work on his game this past summer. He should have put on some muscle, worked on his jumpshooting and a few other things. Having energy and hustle will keep you in the league but it won't get you consistent playing time!!

Woods has game. He can create his own shot and can hit the outside jumper. He also has ball handling skills. The Blazers let him play point a few times when he was there. He also can rebound when given minutes.

Oh nice, you saw him with POR? He was released/traded for off the court stuff, right?

He played point? That's interesting.

Hoopshype profile:
Very talented... Outstanding athleticism... Very versatile... Can handle the ball and shoot it well... Can play some point... Defense still needs work... Has some baggage.

Appears that his baggage was left unclaimed at LaGuardia Airport carousel... Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and jose Feliciano can all see that he is talented ... outstanding outside-of-the-box pick up by Isiah Thomas... Versatile enough to play some guard... does not turn it over ... learning his team mates despite only being with them for less than two months.... Defense still needs work but he is eager to please Larry Brown... only limited by his desire to impress and improve... Knicks fans should give thanks that he likes the city and welcome him with open arms.

No telling how he will respond to unconditional love
