Bring back hand checking and let the players play.
AND eliminate charging. If you get ran over, fine, call it. But none of this running in front of players to flop and/or impede their progress. if you run in front of someone, do it to play defense, not to fall as soon as the wind from his movement touches you.

This would help to seperate the men from the boys.
It would establish who is really built to play basketball the way men used to play it.
None of this pretty boy going to the lane, someone touches you and its an and 1. Nah.
You go hard and get bumped on your way.....oh well, you better stay focussed and make the shot. Taking it to the whole used to be for men. For tough players. Now, theres really nothing to worry about. If you can get by your man (which is easy with the new rules) all you have to do is touch someone. Not a major touch, a slight bump, brush, or any contact at all will do. Stop letting the refs bail guys out.

How would certain players look then? Who would be the leagues best players then? Hows numbers would be impacted dramatically? You have to wonder about that.

I know one thing. Steph would still be Steph because he is built for that kind of game. Eddy Curry would be more of a beast. Even Jerome James would be more effective, he'd probably be a decent player. Crawford......I think the game would be even tougher for him. But thats just our team.

Nate would be ripe for "midget tossing" in the paint! Sounds like fun!

The thing that has to be addressed is the blatant carrying of the ball, which gives quicker PG's a an unfair advantage when penetrating to the basket, especially players like Paul, etc.
He does this all the time, even Jason Kidd gets away with this all too often, and these guys are called "GREAT" PG's that's a joke when you can carry the ball for two strides before you pass, shoot or get fouled, it makes me sick when I see this happen.

Crawford does it alot too. It is unfair for PGs. Ewing did it religously, but it really didn't matter, he was 7 feet shooting a fade away jumper, all you can really do is hope he misses.

there would never have been an 81pt game in the hand-checking era. personally, I like letting the creativity and skill level of the players shine through. it makes for more entertaining basketball.

the two things that make me sick are watching tony parker & manu ginobelli (& others) travel through the lane to the hoop.

Wow, of course he got by his man, he travelled!

2nd thing is when jump shooters pump fake their opponent & leap into the defender- that should be either an offensive foul or a non-call.

Ever watch NBA classic games? these things never got called.

You know what else? Positioning yourself for a charge. Way overdone now.

As I understand it, that depends on who crosses the vertical plane midway between the defender before the two players jump. If the defender crosses the plane, the shooter can lean into him to draw a foul.

Man screw all of that. If the defender jumps in the air, shooters lean in and create contact. I hate that!!!!!

If he jumps into you, cool. If not dribble around him or pull up as hes coming down. None of that bull**** any more.

You know what- you're right. Offensive players are getting bailed out all the time with ticky touch fouls. ruins the pace of the game.
