Doleac is a poor mans Raef Lafrentz. If you see him he dont look 7 ft but the way he plays. He plays primarily facing the basket. He isnt a stong inside presence but he isnt afraid to put his body out there. He isnt a great shot blocker but he will swat one every once in a while. I wouldnt put him the same catagory as Dudley but he very close to Kurt Thomas game.

Kurt is a good comparison. Lafrentz is more athletic than Doleac but Doleac is stronger. Lafrentz has 3pt range where as Doleac is about up to 20 feet. Besides shotblocking, does anyone know if he is a good one-on-one defender?

Doleac is much bigger than LaFrentz. I would consider Doleac very similar to Brad Miller except a step behind him at this point. I think Doleac will address our size issues so i really hope we can ink him to a deal this week or next.

You guys are NUTS! How can you compare Michael Doleac to Kurt Thomas in any way shape or form???? Kurt Thomas played like an all star the second half of the season--he's tough and has ten times the skill level. Has anyone forgoten multiple games where he scored 30 points with 20 rebounds? Michael Doleac couldnt do that in 4 games! Michael doleac brings absolutely nothing to the Knicks in terms if need. He's a 6-11 player who wants to play out on the perimeter--he has no interior game--he shot 40% from the field in his last 125 games and he couldnt stick with two clubs who were in need of quality front court people! A poor man Raef Lafrentz? How about a rich man Travis Knight! We already have four players who are going to do the bulk of the shooting we need to address intangibles like shot-blocking interior defense offensive rebounding-athletiscm in the front court. We don't need Michael Doleac and again we are bidding against ourselves!

Slow down, my man!! All they said was his game is somewhat similiar to Kurt's on the Defensive end. Kurt is a great low post defender but has very slow feet. If a big man went vs Kurt on the dribble, kurt would get killed. Both of them are very strong and play hard at all times. One thing about Doleac, he's fundamentally sound and not afraid to get physical if he has too. Doleac is smart and has a lethal 20 foot jump shot and knows how to set pick n rolls. Believe me, he's 100x better than Mr slow feet, foul prone no offense Dudley.

Even your comparison of Chris Dudley is crazy. Chris Dudley is 40 years old! When he was in his prime he was exactly what many team s could use--- a great rebounding defensive specialist who was a main cog on the great Portland teams. This guy in no way compares to Dudley in his prime. Dudley was one of the best bangers in the league--this guy stays out of the lane. On top of that teams that needed help inside desperately don't want him--I wonder why? perhaps it is the fact he is soft! + in the last 125 games he has shot 40% from the field. This is another rediculous move by Layden bidding against himself and over paying for inferior talent. heck 1.5 mm more gets you Keon clark who IS a presence and has huge upside and growth potential with his freakish athletic ability and build. It's a disgrace a complete dis to say that this guy has 1/5th of the skills or heart that Kurt Thomas has. All we need is another unmovable contract. I hate to say this but this team is going nowhere--it has NO CHANCE of making the playoffs and its going to get worse as Houston and sprewell age with their rediculous contracts. This is Travis Knight part 2 we are getting! I knew it was a mistake not picking Amare Stoudamire because it will just take that much longer to overhaul this disater area.

So much for the optimism, huh?

The Knicks WILL make the playoffs this year. All that naysaying ends right here. What kind of Knicks fan are you? Get with the program! Let training camp get here before starting all this "we're going nowhere" crap. You sound like Bit- oh, I mean Mitch Lawrence from the NY Daily News, and he's a Knicks hater. Post more than twice before trying to sound off like that, OK?
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

You seem to forget that when KT got hot in the second half of the season it was from the perimeter. In fact the did most of his scoring 12 feet from the basket on the left wing. You have your facts all wrong. KT multiple 30/20 games. He only reached those numbers once in his carrer and they where in different games. He never had 30/20 games. 1.5 will not get you Keon Clark! 1.5 is less than what Torronto offered him so way would he leave Toronto to come to NY for less money when we aren't even his first choice?

Also, since when is 1.5 for 3 years a "unmovable contract". BTW Keon is a PF. The last thing we need is another player playing out of position.

True, very true. I guess we'll end up settling for Doleac.

Doleac will be a very tradeable player during the next two years. He would be a great addition to a trade that involves bringing in a starting center in the future.
