what are the real value of the following guys on our team? would other gm's think they're in the wrong system if they're struggling (like q1)? would other gm's think they're overpaid? would other gm's actually trade for them? are the only way we can move them is if we take back a TON more salary? are we in a position of strength or weakness trying to trade them? think about it before making a quick response like "this guy sucks."

in the nba world, taking into account other team's on court needs, business needs, financial restrictions, etc., what are these guys worth and how would other gm's perceive them?

1. right now, Q Rich has very little trade value... he has to show that he can put up #'s again to justify the contract he's signed to.

2. JJ has minus trade value, if that's even possible... no team in their right mind would be interested in acquiring him unless the Knicks were to buy out his contract outright & they could sign him for the veteran's minimum.

3. Malik will have some value towards the end of next season going into the 2007/08 season when his contract becomes a trade chip.

4. Mo Taylor will probably interest some teams, but not at the current dollars he's signed to... if the Knicks would take back a worse contract, or throw in some cash to offset the money owed to him, a deal might be possible... but he's the guy i'd most like to hold onto out of the 4 at this point... he at least contributes something on the court when he's playing.

I'd love to say Mo Taylor is the one who with a little bit of value since his contract expires soon and he can provide an already established team with some inside scoring off the bench but I just don't see teams knocking on our door over Mo because of his reputation.

So I have to say they have they have ZERO value

1) Q - Decent if he can stay healthy, right now: nothing
2) JJ - less than nothing
3) Rose - nada
4) MoT - next year, he'll be an expiry. til then, nothing.

this is why Steph and AD are so important to the team, we have one of the worst crops of veterans in the league. I love almost all the kids, but the vets are horrible. And the kids can't be expected to win on their own - yet.

Mo's contract will have much more value when it's an exp. contract in six months. Just wait it out with him. The other players have almost no value and can just rot on the bench watching our young players learn.

We need Mo. T. Sad, but we need his production. He is playing great this year!

Lames: the Dude has skills. Not much condition. No heart. But Im a knick fan and in denial, so I root for his emergence! Foolishly.

Rose: Diminishing value. Skills not as it used to be. Good lockerroom presence.

Qich: back not insured. He is a Knick for life of contract.

Bottom line, Isiah can always flip for a slightly better player with a worse contract.

Isiahnomics.

I have a weird feeling that Dolan will be the one to stop the Jalen trade and won't allow as much of that salary adding.

What is the value of other players? In a scale of 1-5 (5 being most marketable), score the below.

- Marbury:
- Craw:
- Curry:
- Penny:
- AD:
- Frye:
- Lee:
- Nate:
- Ariza:
- Woods:

My take...
- Marbury: Great player. he's improving & showing leadership under LB. but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$60mm for 3 yrs! --- 2
- Craw: has talent but way too inconsistent. too weak. not smart. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$50mm for 6 yrs. --- 2
- Curry: Heart condition scares many teams. doesn't play D, doesn't rebound, can't get in shape. TO machine. Great post moves and potential, but --- 2
- Penny: as an ending contract, --- 5
- AD: great leader and solid vet. some teams wanting frontcourt depth during playoff may want him, but most value lies as and ending contract. --- 5
- Frye: solid rookie, but is a defensive liability. needs to go inside more and learn to play solid D. can he do that? --- 5
- Lee: a PF playing SF. great rebounder/hustler/passer. smart player. --- 5
- Nate: fun to watch. has heart&tough. but not smart yet. --- 4
- Ariza: lacks fundamental skills. just athleticism. bentley, my ass. --- 2
- Woods: could be the best wing player on this team. has character issues. --- 3

this is sad...

Shut up!, Isiahnomics is funnier. Meddling nit fool!

Dolan is Lord Starphucher and Isiah is Darth Trader!

Isiahnomics is the methoed to which satisfies his boss.

Can you see Isiah with the charts and graphs wiggling thos bushy eye brows with his savvy bullsh$t and Dolan just jamming tunes in his head agreeing with "whatever" and Isiah just skimming millions for himself?

Zero value. When you could go out and sign a Rodney White, Quentel Woods, Rodney Rodgers, Marcus Fizer for league minimum these players have ZERO value. Ask any GM in the NBA that if they had all these guys and they could magically make them just disappear off the books all (but one) would do it.

This notion that a mistake somehow becomes an asset because their contract expires is the biggest joke. The asset is being able to add salary, NOT crap players with expiring deals.

These crazy line ups are a result of these voodoo economics. When you are paying employees the kind of money MSG is your obligated to find ways to get them contributing.

Aren't these 2 different issues? Sure they're cheap, but I don't see much value in any of these 4, with all due respect to the one we currently have.

but the reason we're stuck is because of the overpaid bums none of which plays defense not because of the Woods, Ariza's of the world

The only thing the team is stuck with is developing Curry and four first round picks over a 2 season window. Sure if those five players don't pan out, the team will be completely screwed. Maybe you think the odds are much higher than I do of those five all not panning out.

The only players on the Knicks with any value whatsoever, I would say, would be the expiring contracts, Frye, Robinson, and Lee. Curry, with his heart problem and huge contract, I doubt would garner much interest. Lee and Robinson are essentially throw-ins, I can't see a trade being orchestrated around them.

At least we have draft picks to trade.

Wait, we traded all forseeable draft picks.

I can't think of 1 team other than maybe some past expansion teams that rely solely on rookies who are not going to ever lead this team past the 1st Rd of the playoffs. And Curry is not a Rookie he's a 5yr player who's overweight, poorly conditioned, stupid and doesn't have the strongest of hearts. But thank god we have Maurice Taylor!
