lately i'm hearing alot of crap about this team having mediocre talent, that they'll never be good as presently constructed, & that the Hall of Fame coach doesn't know what he's doing... funny how you never heard these comments a week ago.

personally i'm under no delusions that this team is even close to being a title contender right now, but i do feel they have potential to get better very soon, & i believe they will be a legitimate playoff contender in a year or two because i believe in Larry Brown's ability as a coach to teach these guys how to play winning basketball... i love all the critics like to downgrade our 3 rookies, 1 of whom is a leading candidate for ROY... when was the last time a Knicks' rookie showed such promise? but he's all of a sudden a mediocre talent... i see how it is... i guess after another 5 game winning streak he'll miraculously metamorph into Tim Duncan redux again... & then coach Larry Brown will be a genius i'm sure... i can't wait to read the comments then... LOL.

well how good are they then?

the overall talent on this roster is mediocre and overpriced. I like Frye a lot, he's got a sick jumper and at the worst will be Sam Perkins type guy for 15 years in this league.

But what are we measuring ourselves against here? There is nothing special about our young talent vs. most of the rest of the league. Its nice that we finally have some who is this team built around. What is the style of play. What direction are we going in? Most of all how are we going to improve.

I picked us to win 40-42 games this year but just miss the playoffs and I'm sticking to that because I think we have a good coach and a lot of good players. Problem is we get beat every freakin night by teams with a bunch of crappy players and 1-2 great ones.

Its not fair with Marbury out but we have nobody playing in Chris Paul's league yesterday. Forget Det. Chi? Whats our exuse there? Look at their frontline and tell me how we lost.

Mediocre players are good some nights and sucky others. Right now the only guy we have that doesnt fall into that category is Marbury who produces.

Of course they can improve but take a look at the standings my friend.
Look at the rosters around the league. If your comparing young talent we are WELL behind the other teams in our position and we are hindered by the dead weight on the roster.

in 1 sentence you call the talent mediocre, & in the next you say this team has alot of good players... which is it? if you're expecting high quality basketball from this young team at this point, you're kidding yourself... it's natural to be frustrated when you see the team get embarassed like they did the past couple games, but you have to look at the big picture... if you say you're holding to your original expectation that this team is going to win 40-42 games & just miss the playoffs, then why are you going off about this team having mediocre talent when everyone clearly understood going into the season that this was a work in progress? the young players Isiah drafted show good promise & will improve the more they get a chance to play together... i thought that was widely agreed upon on this board, but now all of a sudden they're just mediocre talent... i don't get this at all.

the dead weight we have on the roster is nothing new to anyone... JJ's a scrub & he always has been... Q Rich has severely underperformed this year... who could have seen that coming? did you see him go 1 for 7 to open the game last night? how does a team get into any sort of offensive rhythm when you have guys bricking shots like that to start off the game? Malik Rose destroys any offensive flow whenever he's on the floor because he tries to be a low post scorer & gets his shot blocked on almost every attempt, instead of being the high energy hustle player he's supposed to be... we need to get rid of the dead weight, but what's done is done & no one's going to take our trash off our hands... we'll just have to grin & bear it for the time being.

look at the big picture... it's a work in progress, & this team will get better... you're going to see them get embarassed by some teams, & then look like world beaters the next... there's no point in going off on rants right now unless you just want to vent... the young kids are fun to watch play when they're in a flow... Eddy Curry looks like our best lowpost scoring option in years & is literally unstoppable sometimes... Nate & Lee make things happen on the court, but they're both still young & apt to making stupid rookie mistakes... that's just par for the course w/young players usually... Frye's demonstrated the smoothest jumpshot i've seen since Allan Houston, but he has alot to learn on the defensive end, & he needs to have more confidence & stay aggressive... i believe he'll be a great player someday... i'm not waiting for any miracles... it's going to take some time for this team to develop the consistency it takes to be a winning team.

Tms,

Faith is believing in something intangable. Its just hard for most these days.

its been 3 frustrating years!

Somtimes it gets worse before it improves and the winning streak was a sign of hope.

It happens when it happens.

Not much to talk about except the obvoius.

for me I am losing interest and find myself fast forwarding (DVR) thru the game more and more as I have ohter things to do and feel like I can't watch another game. Gamepicker keeps me more interested in the score I must admit.

Even little Nates is starting to get on my nerves. Its just not cute anymore.

Even the Chicago game had a aura of being boring except when Kendra started banging!

I must admit, Marbs is an exciting player and I think we might take his talent a bit for granted now that he has been missing. It is coming together, but albiet slowly!

We have a plan, and Larry was really not a part of it when this team was constucted.

A few wins here and there will keep the Garden with a buzz. In time, in time..........

and, the "kids are alright"!
