The more I think about it the more I think Odom would be what the knicks need to get... and this is why. If, somehow, we can get him without giving up anyone in our big 3, then we can use Lamar as the point forward and give him a pippen-like role.
Lineup:
SG: Houston
SG: Spree
SF(Brings ball up): Odom
PF: Dice
C: Doleac?

This is assuming we give up thomas which we most prob will. Then one of our pg's can come in to spell houston spree OR odom and the lineup will shift accordingly. This way we go from being undersized to oversized... If layden can i think he should try to bring in Odom...

Without giving up the big 3 there's no way that'll happen.

Only if Odom got caught again with pot and he was suspended for a year would that happen. With Odom's name being mentioned in Baron Davis and Andre Miller talks, they won't give up him for a bench player who had a decent year for the first time in his career in Kurt Thomas.

Well, maybe trade KT/Charlie for a player that the Clips want...Just who could that be, though?

Ill give Spree in a minute in a 3 way to get us Odom + trash in return.

If we gave up spree then I'd do kt and ward for van exel. Just make sure the trash included maybe a tyrone hill (3-way deal) or a guy that could play pf/c. then;
PG: Van exel/williams
SG: Houston/anderson
SF: Odom/ spoon
PF: Dice/harrington
C: Doleac / other guy?

That way van X plays more of a shooting-point guard role with odom being the point forward. I think it works well b/c van exel can guard point guards better than spree could and is an excellent offensive player. That would be a good lineup IMO, if odom is out we could bring in shandon and van exel can play the traditional point...then we should try to sign someone just for size

You can have 4 scores on a team. You can't have 5 starter that are scores. If the Knicks get Doleac that is going to be 4-6 points a game. The others will average 18 points a game. If you go back and look at the Lakers of the 80's, Celtic and Sixers they had 4 or more scorers. Lakers had: Majic 18 points, Worthy 20, Jabbar 20, Scott 18.
Celtics had: Parrish 18, McHale 20, Bird 20, Ainge 15 and DJ 15.
Sixers: Dr.J 20, Toney 20, Moses 20, Cheeks 14.

You can have 4 scorers and win. The Knicks were one of the worst offenses last year, they need help in that dept. if the are going to be competitive. They need a PG that will get the opponents attention and open the floor I think NVE is that guy. NVE is clutch and wants the ball when things are on the line.
