Guys, I'm having a little debate with a Bulls fan who stated that Curry's contract is not insured. If anyone can provide a link that states if the contract is insured or not that will be helpful.

Thanks

yes, his contract is insured. no doctor anywhere said he shouldn't play basketball, there was just that one genetic testing "expert" who claimed Curry needed to be tested (because the doc wanted more data).

It would have been illegal in New York state to hinge Curry's insurance status on a genetic test because of privacy laws.

edit: for some reason the test is not illegal in Illinois, which is mind-blowing, but also the only reason we got Curry.

thats what infuriated me regarding the ESPN jackasses writing about Curry being another Reggie Lewis. Lewis was told by team doctors NOT to play. Then he got a 2nd opion from a team of cardiologists and they told him NOT to play. Then he got a 3rd opinion and the doctor said he would be ok. He died.

Every doctor that examined Curry cleared him to play. I guess that little bit of information escaped the writers.

yes, I wonder if Bill Simmons stopped to wonder if that's why Zeke wanted to kick his ass? Simmons basically wrote that it would teach Zeke a lesson WHEN Curry died on the court. he's such an uninformed, irresponsible jackass.

He has a series of one year contracts...so It's a total of 50 mio but only that seaon is guaranteed when he is playing..so if anything happens to him the rest of the contract is void.

EDDY PACT SET TO BE INSURED
By MARC BERMAN

The Bulls claimed last month they did not believe they'd be able to get insurance on a new contract for Eddy Curry — another supposed factor in their decision to trade the 6-11 center instead of re-signing the restricted free agent. Apparently, the Bulls didn't try hard enough.

The Post has learned the Knicks were making strong headway in getting Curry's six-year, $60 million contract insured. The normal NBA contract is insured 80 percent against a career-ending ailment, minus a half-season deductible.

Dr. David Cannom, an L.A. heart specialist from Good Samaritan Hospital who examined Curry on behalf of the Bulls in August, spoke with the Knicks Tuesday.

"My understanding is they were very close to getting insurance," Dr. Cannom told The Post. Dr. Cannom and cardiologists from Cornell and Tufts examined Curry in August and gave him a clean bill of health. The Knicks consulted with Dr. Cannom six weeks ago when they were researching the Curry case.

After the Knicks made the trade Oct. 3, six more doctors reviewed Curry's latest round of heart tests.

The Knicks officially declined comment but indicated Cannom's claim was accurate.

Yes and the article has a quote from a doctor saying it's his impression they were going to get it and the Knicks confirmed his comments. You're right though, they did not call a press conference to announce that Curry's contract was insured.

All in all, this is probably another dastardly scheme by Isiah to put more nails in the coffin of the franchise.

Isiah would've held a press conference of the signing of the insurance papers.

yes, yes, I keep forgetting what a schill for publicity he is. he probably would have held a press conference if we won tonight. but I bet he won't say anything after the loss. typical Isiah.

I don't know if it is or not but seriously, don't you think that after all that talk about his heart and not being able to insure his contract don't you think that they would have let it be known that it was insured if they were able to get insurance?

honestly, I don't think Isiah would have made an issue of it. he was trying to downplay the heart thing. and rightly so I would say. the heart problem was blown out of proportion.

Actually he's half right....it's something like (not dead on but as close as I can get) a 2 or 3 yr garaunteed contact and the 2 or 3 years after that are ungaraunteed and held as basically team options, or are triggered as long as he plays a certain amount of games in the previous season. It is a very creative contract that covers our butts in more than one way I do remember that.

joec32033, I've never seen anything that indicated as what you described. If you have read that somewhere please let us know. Actually all that I have ever read is that Curry has a player option after 3 or so years.
