Is he really going to benefit from watching? Do you send him to the D league? He dominated the CBA; I don't know if dominating the D league will do much for him but I don't know if just watching the NBA games will either. You have to wonder why he's not playing at all in the NBA.

Probably because he's not that good.

He is caught in the numbers game and since he is young, LB is probably holding him back for next year. He is not needed right now. The only way I see him get any time is if/when they trade Big Game.

well.. remember our GM has added
Mo T - 2 years $18mm remaining
Jerome James - 5 years $30mm remaining
Malik Rose - 3 years $20mm remaining

While its been well documented that Mo T is having a rebirth, JJ is here because we NEEDED a center and Malik was a no brainer because of the picks the simple fact is we have a crouded frontcourt with too many guys making too much money for too long a time.

If Jackie is going to blossum its probably not going to be here.

If he wasn't that good, he would've been waived by now!.

Jackie is fine, this is just what happens when the rotations are shortened to 8 or 9 guys, there will be guys left out, and Jackie's one of them, that's all.

I'd want to keep Butler around, personally. He's shown flashes of credible talent and has the height and build that you're looking for in a true center. Personally I'd love if he was the backup 5 for Curry as James is effectively unplayable.

Taylor is nice to have and I don't mind Malik, but neither of them are anywhere close to true centers. Butler is and, at such a cheap cost, we can afford to take a flyer on him not sucking. Don't get me wrong, though. I wouldn't want him starting, he's just nice to have as a young, cheap backup with potential to be credible.

Everybody cant play. Who are you sitting to play him? Curry? Frye? Davis? Taylor?

Butler is trash. He's the Frank Williams of the current Knicks. He makes a few good plays, everyone rides his jock, then he's exposed. He's just flat out not good. Fortunately we have a coach who can see that, unlike when Frankie was getting minutes.

Uhmmm no.. try again. We forget what we see apparently.

He hasn't had enough minutes to be exposed. He's a 20 year old depth player that has a nice feel for the game. He can run, has soft hands, and moves the ball. Athletically, he's superior to Sweetney. Once this kid tightens up his frame.. he will be a real nice rotation player.

I didn't forget anything. I remember clearly seeing a confused kid every time the ball went to him in the low post. I remember horrible defense other than for maybe a few blocks. I remember some terrible turnovers as well. I never said he's exposed for the rest of his career and he'll never get better, I said he's exposed right now, and right now he's a young player with little raw talent.

I'll disagree with little raw talent. He has post moves, a face the basket shot and very soft hands for a big man. Crash, by your own dialogue you would have traded Jermaine ONeil after his first few years. Some guys just take a long time, don't mean they are trash.

Jermaine O'Neal was drafted out of high school for a reason. Jackie tried to come out in high school, wasn't drafted, barely played on a team before going to the CBA, and now is in a suit. I'm not saying he's going to be bad for the rest of his career, but he will never ever be anything more than an Olowakandi with post moves.

What is his minutes per game average? Your opinions are based on very little burn, small sample set. He's got a big body, can run the floor, .. he's got some game. His upside.. is a defensively responsible, 8pts.. 7rpg.. role player. What do you want from the kid.. he was a CBA pick up.. I don't remember anyone here claiming him to be a superstar.

Olowakandi with post moves would make a decent player in this league. Thing about Jackie is he makes the hustle and defensive plays than Olowakandi doesn't, from what I have seen of his play...IMO.

why were Ben Wallace and Brad Miller not drafted? Often bigs just take a long time.

Anyone watch David West? GREAT college player and just rounding into his own at 26 years old and his 3rd season. And this was a 3-4 year CBB player.

My guess all this is moot. That JB winds up being a throw in or just moves on to a team where he might actually get some minutes.

He really should be able to get minutes if AD isn't here after the trade deadline.

I'm not saying his whole career is going to amount to nothing, but some people seem to think this guy will be something special. All I'm saying is RIGHT NOW there isn't anything Butler can add to this team that we can't get even more of from AD.

Crash you had better not put words into people's mouths - no one here in this thread has said that Jackie will be something special. Also, YOU have claimed that Jackie is trash, which is clearly not the case. Seems like your last sentence has found a good medium of what you think of Jackie Chan.

I'm not quoting anyone when I said people think he's something special. I'm just saying, in general, people are under the assumption that this kid could give us something. All I'm saying is right now, he's trash, and he can't. Again, I never said he's going to be trash throughout his career, but RIGHT NOW, he should be starting on an NBDL team.
