Sure there is. I'd take Paul before Frye. Also, I still believe that Bynum will eventually be the better player.

I was actually thinking about starting a thread similar to this one but I am waiting for Frye to have a good game. I dont think Frye would be the 1st pick but I think Frye wouldnt fall to the Knicks. Also, I dont think any Knick fan would be annoyed (gunsnewing) when we picked Channing Frye.

As much as I love Frye I would still take Paul. I just knew he was going to be this good and more. He was made for the NBA. Frye before Bogut though. Bogut has surprised me, he has played well. Marvin Williams has been an utter disappointment. He is lost. By the time he figures it out he will be an ex-Hawk. Everyone talks about how does Isiah still have a job, how does Billy Knight. As far as Bynum being better than Frye don't count on it. That was more hype than hope. In order to do that he would have to be better than Curry and if you been watching early Laker games, he doesn't have the physical gifts to do it. He is closer to Oliver Miller game or if you are old enough to remember Kevin Duckworth's and Beniott Benjamin's game.

its a tough one because I am biased and love Frye's game and most of all his aggression and how hard he works. That being said I think based on talent/upside alone (forget team needs) I would pick in the following order:
Paul
Bogut
Frye
Diogu
Bynum

judging from the season thus far, paul would definitely be the first pick. he has that tangible leadership quality to him, brings back memories of jason kidd when he first entered the league wit the mavs

It's pretty clear Frye would be either 2nd or 3rd. Each of Isiah's 4 picks over the last 2 seasons would have gone FAR earlier if the drafts were re-done now.

Frye: 8, would be 2 or 3
Nate: 21, would be around 12
Lee: 30, would be around 24
Ariza: 44, would be around 25 to 32

Size, strength, athleticism, long arms, intelligence. He's very young and has a lot to learn, but how good do you think Frye would have been in the nba at 17?

I think a number of the little guys are going to end up being good (Calderon, Williams, Felton, etc.) but for straight-up top 5 I think I'd do this:

Paul
Bogut
Frye
Villanueva
Granger

a lot of times a rookie's stats are directly related to the situation they are in. if they are drafted into a championship situation obviously they would not get the minutes needed to put up the numbers, ex: darko: he doesnt get enought time for anyone to know what hez really got. there of course are the sure things such as duncan and lebron where they can just be plugged in and work wonders but those come once every so often

haha your skepticism is very much valid but i was merely using him as an example, there are others who have put up the stats when given minutes such as say (lol, knicks fans are gonna dread this one) shandon anderson when he just came in the league with utah as a mid 2nd round pick, he definitely benefited from stockton and malone but people were raving at the job that he was doing because he got the minutes, and he got these minutes because he fit a role on the team as their defensive stopper. another one is carlos boozer, if he was drafted by the pistons he would never see the light of day being buried in brown's dog house, he would just be another duke player who succeeded at the college level and found himself lost in the nba

That makes sense. I dont know anything about Bynum and I dont watch Laker games. The only complete Laker game I watched this season was 'Miami vs, LA'. I am not even that good at judging talent. I admit that I am only comparing them by stats which is totally unfair but I am very high on Frye. I havent seen a rookie big man be this consistent early on. I guess we'll have to wait and let time tell who turns out to be the better finished product.

You're still really high on Ike? Ike over Marvin Williams, Granger, CV? There's plenty of other guys I wouldn't pick Ike over either but those three certainly stand out to me.

Frye was a late bloomer, Bynum's gonna have weight issues.

all you guys saying you would have picked bynum ahead of frye are crazy.Bynum has not given any indication thahe is going to be a star. Fyre has shown every indication. Bynum is quite young so we'll have to see but, at this point to pick a prject who you hope will be as good as frye in 4 or 5 years is not wise, imo.

You guys are sleeping on Marvin Williams. He's in an impossible situation. Playing behind Harrington, Smith and Childress isn't easy. His minutes are spotty at best. Plus, he doesn't have a legit pg to set him up for good shots. Plus, the team is a mess.

Williams is a typical jack of all trades, master none type player. Does everything pretty well but nothing really that great. However once he reaches his full potential, he'll have a similar game to Harrington.
