This probably doesn't mean very much, but it's an interesting coincidence. This excerpt was at the bottom of the linked article.

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/13/sports/basketball/13knicks.html?pagewanted=all

"Larry Brown's next victory will be his 1,000th as an N.B.A. coach. Only three others have won at least as many games: Lenny Wilkens (1,332), Don Nelson (1,190) and Pat Riley (1,120). "One of my coaches came up to me the other night and said how many I had," Brown said. "I started looking in December. You start thinking back, I'd be thrilled if we just won one game.""

Think LB will stick around long enough to pass Nelson?

Yes-This job was his coaching dream, his home, his inspiration, the team one of the joys of his youth. He'll stay here, his children will grow up in the area and he will retire as coach of the knicks. Then again Parcells came home, retire got divorced and was never heard from again--or was he?

Good one, Sage. I think will pass Nelson if his health holds out.

I don't know about that- lets say he wins tonight & then 20 more- that leaves him 170 short- over three years, he'd have to win 57 games each season. I'm a knick fan, but I'm a realist- I doubt we could win 57 each of the next three, and I doubt Brown could endure 3 years of coaching.
