How do you guys like listening to him call Knick games? I didn't read through the game thread from yesterday so don't know whether people commented.

I really enjoyed him last night. I always liked him with Charles and Ernie in the studio. But I thought he was great last night. What a comfortable style he has. Very informative, lots of insider stuff, but not at all removed or pompous. Very funny, willing to go out on limbs with pronouncements and predictions. Able to laugh at himself. Great job I thought.

I thought he was pretty good too actually, I like when he said Marbury had Devin Harris on skates

Love him in the studio, I thought that sometime - and this may have just been me remember the first game he did - he gets off on a tangent and keeps talking about it over and over again, getting away from the game. Maybe that's just because I am not used to him or that he does not have the years in like Hubie or Collins of TNT fame.

I think the word comfortable is a good way to describe his style.

I was really annoyed by this guy. I even said this in the game thread. He was the worst color commentator this year. At one point there was a techincal on the floor and Kenny and Breen were talking about the freaking Celtics. I was really frustrated. I hope Kenny learns the fine art somewhere else and then starts doing Knick games. Clyde is the man!

Marv, NYK3: He is a really good analyst but not good at calling games or adding to it. He talks WAYYY too much. Did you guys feel that at times atleast?

Silver I didn't feel that way cuz I enjoyed his rap. Plus maybe some of it is the more he talks the less Breen can!

There were some points when I enjoyed listening to him b/c he knows his basketball and he's VERY insightful, but then I think Martin hit it on the nail, and he just sometimes goes completely into the clouds and will start saying this that don't make sense, mainly when he's joking around. A lot of first year commentators are like that though. I remember when Tom Tolbert first started, all he did was joke around, but now I think he's pretty good. Reggie reminds me of the same too.

i think he did a great job. i also think he is one of the best COLOR commentators. the jokes are fine by me, leave the serious stuff to breen. his is not better than clyde but i like the change every now and then...

Kenny has a ways to go as far as announcing goes.
But at least he's not as bad as Bill Walton.
I absolutely DESPISE Bill Walton's stupid analogies and overall presumptious banter.
He talks like he knows what these players are thinking... and he says it as if what he says is soo definitive.
What I hate the "MOST" are his ridiculous superlatives.
The man has no business holding a Mic.

The announcer I hate to listen to is Reggie Miller. Gosh golley gee. That's all I hear when he speaks.

exactly like when he was talking about the Celtics and we didn't know who the technical was on! All these guys who are new it don't know when to keep quiet but eventually they get it. I think he's going to be a good one. Now don't get me started on Al Trautwig doing games!

Is there anyone worse than Starks right now?

The Jet is 1000000000% better than John Starks ever will be. Listening to Johnny on the radio or television is extremely uncomfortable. You want the guy to be good, but he really just doesn't have it.

HOWEVER

If it is possible there is someone much worse than Starks. I'm sure most of you have seen Dee Brown on ESPN, and if you haven't you're lucky. I honestly believe there is no worse television sports personality in any sport than Dee Brown. He is un-listenable. He mumbles, talks over himself and rarely hits any points. I have no idea how ESPN allows this to go on. I know he won that Dream Job contest, but come on!


Botton Line: There will never be a better duo than Marv and Clyde.

You don't know how bad it is until you watch a few games on NBA league pass. some of these other markets have PAINFUl commentating going on. I'd rather play music and watch than listen to them. They are dead, no life, no analysis, no nothing.

Marv and Marc Jackson are pretty bad. Marv used to be the best too, but they are hard to listen to.

I thought Kenny was alright and kind of funny, especially when he was talking about how Nate misses not having a roommate. "Hey Steph you up...Steph...Steph"

I agree. the "off the back rim and in" on the radio during every single possession by the opponent is so annoying. Everytime I listen to the game on the radio the knicks lose

Kenny and Bill are better than alot of the homers, that annouce for their respective teams, some of those guys are horrible.
