How good are things going with the Knicks in '06? Even Antonio Davis, who initially was so opposed to coming to New York, says he likes working with the team's young players so much, he would love to come back to play here next year.

"I can envision that," he said. "My thing is realizing where I can help and what my role is going to be. I'd love to be around these guys -- David (Lee), Channing (Frye), Jamal (Crawford) and Eddy (Curry) -- another year or two, because they keep me young. They make me feel good."

Now the undeclared captain of the team and a vital component of Larry Brown's rotation, Davis was crushed by the Oct. 3 trade that brought him to the Knicks along with Curry for Michael Sweetney, Tim Thomas, Jermaine Jackson and the Knicks' No. 1 (lottery?) pick this year. He even hoped the Knicks would release him so he could re-sign with the Bulls.

I dig him. He gives us some good minutes and is a good soldier. His playing time has been dropping and he does what is needed on this team by providing leadership.

If he wants some minimum money, thats cool, and if he is just saying this so the bulls resign him, thats cool too! Maybe he wants to coach one day and enjoys teaching.

A good atititude is good no matter the motive!

Yeah, I find myself not hating AD, and realize he can be a good piece to the puzzle.

We always thought he was a good pickup for us, it wasn't until he was playing 35 minutes a game that we bagen to have a problem with him. Its called the law of diminishing returns. For the vets minimum, we'd love to keep him, provided trades or FA signings don't put his spot in jeopardy.

He seems to very inspirational and a good role model for the young players, but I wouldn't waste no money on him next year just to wear armoni suits at the end of the bench. Knicks alreay have an inspirational leader in Rose whose making plenty of dough.

I'd be surprised if he were here in seven weeks

Eggzactly, that's just AD's plea to not be traded to Toronto.

get rid of Malik & bring back AD at the veteran's minimum.

i think we have a gentlemen's agreement with antonio that we will release him after the deadline (at least that was the plan to). and i would be shocked if we didn't release penny as well (barring any STUPID trades).

I can see the Knicks releasing Penny, but not AD. AD can give you some good mintes - 10 to 15 - of defense.

only against slow, unathletic players.. the only time i want to see AD on the court is garbage time. If we need a player like him but much better, go for ratliff.

I have seen AD hold his own against several top PFs, not the whole game, but for 5 mintue spurts.

He's too old this year. Next year it'll be ridiculous. Still, I'm glad he replaced Tim Thomas. AD's a good influence on the younger players.

he's a great help defender & goes well in the post, but his lateral movement isn't great... still worthy of a spot on the roster to keep teaching the young guys how to play this game.
