My friend and I were just talking about the Vin Baker for Kenny Anderson trade, which is all but done, and came to wonder: Why in the world is Seattle trading for a veteran PG when they alredy have Gary Payton. Could this a) be done because another trade is lined up to get rid of Payton, b)be the last straw for Payton before he demands a trade, or c) be clearing up some room so they can sign Rashard Lewis long term. I think its probably c), but if Payton does want to leave, how about trading Sprewell and Williams for Payton. The trade works under the CBA, and Williams could be their PG of the future while Anderson is the PG for the present. Spree could play 2, Barry at 3. Knicks could throw in a future 1st rounder. I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there since everyone seems fixed on trading Spree. Would Seatte do that. If they did, maybe trade Thomas to the Pacers for Bender and Foster. It, too, works under the CBA. Thomas is better then Foster, and if the Knicks included a future draft pick in there, Indy would have the top front line in the East with O'Neal, Miller, and Thomas, and already have a ton of swingmen in Miller, Jones, Artest, and Harrington.
Once again, do I think this will happen? No, but it could work. Knicks would start: PG- Payton, Ward/Eisley SG- Houston, Anderson SF- Weatherspoon, Bender PF- McDyess, Harrington C- Foster
And my bad on the subject, it's not a rumor, it just an idea. That's what the title should've read, crazy trade idea. My bad.
