Steph's last 4 per game stats

23.5 Points
12 assists
2.25 steals
3 Turnovers
45% from the field.
77% from the line.

And we are 3-1, 3-0 in the new year.

And most importantly he is making his teamates better.

Looks like an NBA player of the week, no?

BTW, has anyone noticed that he has accomplished half of this without shared PG responsibilities, or Steph switching off to the 2?

If we can do this without Jamal, is he expendable? Should we look into moving him for a less talented but more consistant piece and a pick?

I am only asking because had we done this without Steph, the board would be lit up with how we don't need him.

craw is core...its just the fact that we're playing as a unit, and the job of a good unit it to take the place of one of its members just incase something might happen

He has a long, fairly large contract. I don't think any team's going to give up that much for him unless you're referring to a 2nd rd pick. Jamal's our experiment. It's not worth giving up on him because we'll get very, very little for him.

no, without jamal we wouldn't have beaten the suns. It's nice that we can beat sub-500 teams without him, but we need him if we are going to be competitive against good teams with winning percentages.

We still need Jamal his scoring is invaluable and his handling the point at times is missed since Nate is still in need of alot of work and experience at the PG ad SG positions.

I dont think The knicks are truely better without crawford, I just think that the knicks started playing better around the time crawford went out, the knicks looked pretty well in the victory against phoenix and crawford played that game. I think the knicks will be even better when crawford comes back. Although let the record show that I am not opposed to trading jamal for another PG.

I like the unintended sarcasm of this post. Hopefully we can put to rest the nonsense that STeph is the reason we were losing. It's as ridiculous as saying we are winning because Jamal is out. We need them both. We can use them both. We can like both of them and hopefully they will both continue to get better and lead our team. You can never have to many good players.

That being said we are a better team without Jamal and should dump him for table scraps. I think Luke Ridenour is better.

oh killa, this is CLASSIC.

you're 100% right tho, b/c if marbury was hurt for 2 games, and it was craw running the point and we went 2-0, i would DEFINITELY be posting about it. too funny.

Craw is an integral long term part of what is going on here.

After constantly evaluating what I believe will be the best for the team going forward, I hope we can acquire James in the off-season and have a nice 4 guard set up--one where we can play 3 guards at a time on occasion. the NY Knicks and other teams--like the SUNS are very adept at going three guards at various points of the game and having huge success.

We do need a traditional SF unless they decide Lee, Ariza and Woods will fill the bill--but my guess is they wont decide on all 3.

To me James, while he isnt 6-7, is a guy we can acquire for cheap, and is vastly under-rated. he plays both ways and has been playing at all star caliber levels.
Remember the Pistons great teams had 4 short guards. They did pretty good they couldve won 4 championships.

If we had
James Marbury
Craw and Nate

thats a nice 4. It would be VERY hard to match up with our 3 guard sets.

i disagree. i think we need a SG more than a guy like james.

we are mismatched defensively heightwise in the backcourt and jamal is a better pg than sg. james, marbury, craw, and nate leave us with no real consistent outside threat in the backcourt. none of our guys are as consistent from the perimeter as isiah, joe, and vinnie.

DJ, don't poo-poo James, the guy can fill it up. And with Nate and Marb you have 2 guys who can move to the 2, and while not big, both can cause havok by being fast. I would agree with you that maybe filling the spot with a big 2 guard who could defend would be just has nice to fill the position, that same 2-guard, if coming out of college, probably wouldn't be able to spread the floor like James can, and that would in turn help our post players.

Is there a better player that you could get for the MLE than James? I haven't looked at the upcoming FAs.

what's caron butler going to be worth? not exactly an allstar but a solid 3, which is what we need. then w/the spurs' pick we p/u marcus williams.

I didn't realize Butler was an FA. If he's available for the MLE he would be a FAR better choice than James because of age, size, upside, and NBA position.
