Honestly they should just get a serviceable center, and try to grab a pg like Van X and they will be fine in the East. The Celtics arent anything special, Detroit - they have Wallace and Stack but they need some others to dominate. And forget the Nets, we can own them if we make these moves. The rest is up to team chemistry. We arent getting a Big man that is going to save this team, and we arent getting Gary Payton. Spree isnt going to grab us some amazing player on the market, and houston is going nowhere. Lets wait for the smoke to clear and find out what LAyden is really up to, because all of these trade rumors are rediculous - according to this board and the espn one we are looking at every player but shaq and kobe to trade spree + others for. Not going to happen.

I think things will be alot easier to analyze in about two weeks or so...and there will be a few more rumors tossed around before then.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I really think when layden signed weatherspoon, H20for 100m and traded for Eisley and Anderson, he really put himself in a tight spot. No one wants any of the knicks players based on their ridiculous salaries. The knicks probably will do something little but it won't change the outcome of the upcoming season.

"traded for Eisley and Anderson"-Though it's off the topic, I think that was a good move considering Rice got hurt last year and all he did was hurt team chemistry in NY. He did shoot himself in the foot with the Weatherspoon and Houston signings.

I think the Knicks would be really good if they got Andre Miller, but I doubt they could get him. If they did, I think they should play Frank Williams sparingly for 2 years, then trade him in the last year of his contract. Since Miller would be the point for the future, he wouldn't be needed, and if he had 2 good seasons, a team needing a point might give up a lot for him.

Hopefully, getting Miller is Plan A and Van Exel is Plan B.

B.
No NO NO, BigSm00th! Getting Eisley and Anderson was probably the worst moves in Layden Reign as Knicks G.M. besides the H20 signing. Research and take a look at the contracts, they're LONG TERM DEALS!!. Both of them are signed through the 2007 season. Thats was a stupid non-intelligent move on laydens part. So was Allan's contract which i believe will be hard to move unless he has a great 2003 season and knicks trade him for any of the elite free-agents coming out after the 2003 season. Layden should've not sign or take players with long-term contracts. Can't you see most of the teams in the NBA are trying to avoid long term contracts. What it does is cripple your payroll where a team would lack the flexibility to sign or trade players.

Anderson was coming off of a year averaging 9 points and 4 rebounds, and Eisley came off a year averaging 9 points and 3 and a half assists a came. Rice just didn't fit in with the Knicks, had been injured, and was often complaining about playing time. With that trade the Knicks should've gotten 2 players that would've played pivotal roles for a playoff team, but it was much different due to the JVG resignation and the Camby injuries. At the time it was a pretty good deal, in hindsight, it doesn't look too good. Too bad Layden doesn't have a crystal ball to look into the future with.

...So what are those things in the frame of his glasses?

Look, Anderson is a good player especially the way he plays on defense but i personally don't think he should be getting 7 yrs for 42m or 45m. HELL NO!!! You give that money to a player who starts and whose bonifide. Eisley isn't so bad of a PG. but C"MON not for 45m for 7 yrs. Knicks just luv to throw money around with long term contracts and it will catch them eventually. The probelm with the knicks is giving players huge contracts when you know they won't play to it. RIce's stock wasn't so bad so the knicks should've went for size instead. Lj and Longley retired, Camby already to start the season on the injured list. The knicks went to being the smallest team in the NBA. When Layden took the job, he may not have a crystal ball o look into the future but he certainly is aware of how eventually the NBA's economic system would affect most teams especially the top payroll teams like the knicks.

True, good points. Knicks should've gotten bigger men with the Rice trade.

the knicks should have gotten bigger for Ewing, Rice shouldnt have been a factor. But thats hindsight and we have to deal with it now. I think Layden will fix it, may take a while but he will get us back on course.

Your're right! He has already started with McDyess.
