I think this should get done for both teams......It's the perfect trade.

Artest and Anthony Johnson for Troy Murphy and Calbert Cheaney work.

GS gets light years better at small fwd. They also move Ike Diogu over to perminant power fwd. Nice!

Indiana gets Jermaine O'neal his side kick. Troy is not known to be a bruiser but he is know to get you a double double while shooting his jumpers out on the perimeter. Perfect mix with O'neal in the post. Make O'neal the center once and for all where he belongs. Nice!

I want to see this get done. It would be good for the league.

Probably as good a deal as they will get considering the league is wary of Artest and knows the Pacers have to trade him. Maybe they can wring a pick from GS as well.

Troy Murphy & Mikael Pietrus for Artest & Johnson is more equal in terms of talent imo... dollars match up too... but the fact that Artest would probably bolt for NY once his contract is up means GS probably doesn't make that deal

agreed about the bolting to NY part, that's why I think teams will kinda demand a small piece that is long term to them, like a second round pick or something. You can't trade away Murphy AND a player like Pietrus for a 2 year rent of Artest.

If Artest is winning I doubt he complains........lol

That don't even sound right, lol.

Well who's to say the Knicks would even want Artest. Artest would have to force a second trade to NY but that just wouldn't work. In two years the Knicks couldn't afford Artest anyway.

This is still a great trade on paper. GS might do it. You guys got to admitt it is a great trade.......on paper.

Artest has never operated by conventional rules... he's not about the money... who knows what he'll end up doing in a couple years... he could very well retire for all we know... the guy's got some screws loose, that's for sure.

He did say once that he'd consider retiring and try boxing professionally. Technically there is nothing wrong with him doing that.....but dude is seriously like a kid in a candy store. He's young and rich.......with a screw loose. Thank God.......if he was broke we would have a lunatic on the loose.

am i nuts in thinking a salary dump like a penny/ariza for artest/croshere is a better deal for the pacers?

its not like that deal would get the pacers under the cap next season, and they seem to be looking for a promising young big.

Murphy is a good solid player right now, so I think any trade where they get a good solid player vs. a raw young and lod washed up player is better for the Pacers.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I don't get why the Pacers would want this trade. Would JO and Troy play together? Doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. Not saying the Knicks package is better, I believe that Isiah wants no part of Ron and that Indy would never allow him to come here. But I don't see this package as being very good for the Pacers. Maybe I'm nuts.

Also, GSW with JRich, Baron, Artest, Diogu and Foyle would have one of the most insane rosters in the league.

If I'm Indiana, I ask for Pietrus AND Troy. That's a fair package.

Definately......

Troy has a sneaky game cuz he would have 20 and 10 and you wouldn't even know he played in the game. He's like Brad Miller when he was in Indiana. Rigth now Indiana is starting Austin Grow hair. He would be a definate upgrade...especially when they aren't even trying to play Artest. I agree that Pietrus has to be in it.....that makes it even more appealing.

This really should get done. The more compeditive the teams get the more fun it is to watch the NBA. It's great for the game.

yeah, I think troy murphy and maybe biedrins for artest is a good deal for both teams. Murphy is a great complement to o'neal - good rebounder and good shooter, and both players are pretty young and have a lot of upside. The warriors should move murphy and give diogu more time as well.
