1.) Knicks leading rebounder averages 6.3 rebounds per game
2.) The knicks third leading three point shooter(%) is Trevor Ariza
3.) Our Starting SG's FG% the last three years is 35%,39%, 40%, 37%
4.) His back-up is 41%, 39% and 39%
5.) Our PF is 74 years old
6.) Our back up center trips over his own feet 75 times per game since 2002

Just thought I'd point these out.

I think the most interesting numbers are that our team plays better with our starting PG at SG, and with our starting SG at PG:

Did you look at the minute percentages by position? Crawford has played 3% of his minutes at PG. You can't draw anything from that. He's getting killed at SG where plays nearly all his minutes according to 82games.com

I don't put a whole lot of stock in those minute numbers as, as at PG, SG and SF they only total 62%. I'm pretty sure he's not playing 38% of his minutes at PF and center, so they clearly don't work in the way you suggest.

And I think anyone watching games sees Jamal spends more than 3% of his time at PG, wouldn't you agree?

well, he hasn't started since this idiot coach came here, injury notwithstanding.

yet, somehow he's led the team in scoring in 4 of the 7 wins and scored double digits in the 4th in 2 other wins.

so maybe coming off the bench is a better role for him.

You are killing me. WATCH THE DAMN GAME! Not the stupid stat website. It doesn't take about 50 million things into account. Watching the games, I would say Jamal plays about 50% of his time at PG. Brings the ball up a ton of times, even when Steph is in and helps sets up teammates. Just like Steph, except Steph still does a better job. (to the steph haters, Shut up). It's a ridiculous stat. The only reason it comes up with 3% is b/c he's listed as a shooting guard, and MOST of the times, he's either in with Steph or Nate or both and is RARELY in with Q or Ariza or both alone. About, ohhhhhhh, 3% of the times as a matter of fact I would say. WOW. This means Jamal will never be a PG! WOW!

I agree. Last game it appeared that Marbs and Craw split time at the PG when they are out there. 82games.com probably listed Marbs at the Point the whole time. Stats are misleading.

Then why did you start this stats based thread?

A lot of people love stats when they make their case and hate them when they don't.

OMG? What's your problem? I wouldn't go by that website either. I was not the one who posted the web site info. as a basis of evaluation. I was just commenting on the poster's interpretation of those #s.

It's actually percentage of team minutes, not player minutes. I don't know how they decide when a player is at each position. I don't think they change it from PG to SG each time the player plays on vs. off the ball on offense. 82games does have useful info but their "by position" info. probably isn't very useful. So, I wouldn't have cited that info. to suggest Marbury and Craw should switch positions.
