I have an ear problem so maybe you guys can help me out. I listened to two interviews the last couple days from Larry Brown. In those interviews I could have sworn I heard with my onw two earls, LB say that he thought Marbury play very good defense the other night but wasn't aggressive offensively. Then I could swear that I heard him criticize the team for not getting any steals and that THE TEAM could get a steal by mistake. I heard this with my own two ears.

Yet when you read the papers only two articles directed it this way. There's actually a direct quote IN ONE ARTICLE, in which LB says Marbs played very good defense. The rest all said they steals remarks were directed at Marbs. Now this spin has created a life of it's own.

In summary: Why do we go to the papers for information. I probably get better info from my son's gibberish.
I just hope that people will like me

That's a good post. And it makes a lot more sense that he was talking about the team. 0 steals from a whole team is a pretty intense stat.

That may be, and this is the problem (IMO) with these two communicating with each other through the media.

I don't even read the Knicks section anymore, unless it really really seems worth while and it rarely does. Maybe the Andraise comments that night were blown out of line, but anything from within' the Knicks org will say good things about Steph, how he's being humble, trying sucking it up and trying to do things the right way. Larry acknowledged he had a bad offensive game and he needs to be more aggresive. Big whoppin' deal. How many times has he had similar criticisms for Chauncey and AI and Jamal and Nate? How about a million?

That's why as coach I think Larry needs to remember he is not in the Midwest anymore where sniping at a player can be used as a motivational tactic. Sniping here normally is a ticket to lies, misquotes and spin and can not only demoralize the player but undermine your ability to coach the team. This ain't Kansas anymore
