i mean it's just out in the open. breen and andreise are really railing into him. OPENLY questioning his effort, body language, etc. this is the same owner that got rid of marv for being too critical of the team. is this a ratings thing since the knicks are losing, they have to be able to keep the viewers coming back so are they trying to stir up the soap opera angle? OR has a trade already been made and this is management's ways to lessen the backlash on isiah and larry by portraying steph in a negative light? OR is this all legit and too big to ignore during telecasts? i just find it amazing that msg network is allowing all this negative press so openly.

The Marv thing was never about objectivity I think we can agree. It was a guise for $$$$ from Marv. Breen is just telling the truth. He thinks NY viewers are too sophisticated to pooh pooh it.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Dolan never let money stand in the way of having who he wants..

I think the reason Marv got axed wasn't his criticisms of the coaches or players, it was when he started becoming critical of Isiah in the wake of the Chaney/Czar/Wilkens fiasco. And ask Shandon how Isiah feels about being disrespected.

I think in the wake of the Marv firing Dolan may be bending over backwards to allow a semblance of objectivity, so long as it stays to what happens on the floor it's probably fair game, but nobody better let it go upstairs.

agree with some of the above. Also, IF the Knicks were to trade Marbury and not get too much backlash from it they have to make sure he is seen as creating his own exit - bad play, etc.

Johnny "Hoops" should have kept that crap about Steph to himself. His snotty sarcasm made him seem really Chad Fraud-ish. I bet (and hope) both their mouths will be checked before the next game.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

ah, people see stephs body language and sulking, I am glad they railed him, I don't want to see steph get beat up like this, but he can solve a lot of these problems himself, it is his unwillingness to do so that upsets people, just a stubborn goat..

These are same announcers who NEVER acknowledge a bad call by the refs and are always critical of the team. None of this surprises me. I am so annoyed by Mike Breen, he is such an ass kisser. Johnny Hoops is pretty good, but I do think he is out of line with his comments. He never has anything critical to say of a ref, coach, or anyone else except knick players and mainly Steph.

No talk of effort when Craw drop a doughnut after dropping 31 a few games before?

I agree. But on the other end, ALL of the heat he gets is so unwarranted. No notice of how he was going up talking to Curry, Frye and others during the game. I really didn't think the game was as bad as everyone is making it.

He talked to a teammate WOW that's great! That is really something to compliment.

well, stephs body language was definately different in this game, in that he was talking to his teammates, he was getting others involved, he was trying to encourage players, he was trying to do all the things that the fans have been criticizing him for.

People over-congratulate the little things that Steph has to go out of his way to do (ie: trying to be a leader), but they unfairly blame him for the big things (ie: losses).

Can't have your cake and eat it too. I think Steph's problem is simple......he's expected to be something he's not -- a franchise star.

Thing is -- he's so physically talented and such a draw that owners and GM's have been content to just leave him out there to dry.

That, combined with him already being somewhat egotistical, and you have a monster that's spiralling out of control.

Normally I'd say, "Well, we need time...", but the problem is that we're also trying to defend a draft pick here. No way I want Chicago getting Sweetney AND a Top Lottery Pick. No way.

So that said, this ish is complicated.

It's like we need to give it some time, but we also need a quick fix.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Well if its something to complain about, I thought it was worth noting.

seriously, a post is created just about everyday about how steph doesnt interact with his teammates, and when he does, they are like 'so what'

Oh please. First off, if he's displaying leadership, he should be commended, and at the same time, if he plays like crap, he should be criticized. YES, he should have been shooting more and that's pretty much what the Knicks announcers were saying, and that's really all. It's called constructive criticism and DOlan acknowledged a year ago that that's FINE. All he said was you can't bask the Knicks players unnessesarily (sp?). It was hardly wrong and nothing compared to what Stephon gets on here. It's hardly an issue.

Again, Stephon should have taken more shots, whether the offense was dictating it or not. But how about our overall defense? Anyone thing maybe that's why we lost?

In fact, the Knicks announcers are being fair. Andraise just said Ariza needs to be more aggresive too.

And in case you didn't notice, they were complimenting Marbury for the good things too. This stuff is silly.

"stephon played hard in that interview...much harder than he played on the court."
"stephon is pouting"
"stephon seems to be going through the motions."

this is what was said in the telecast to ALL knicks fans about our #1 guy. yeah, this stuff is silly.

2 of those 3 seem uncalled for. Maybe Stephon will find the Strength within' him to have a slam dunk like the old days and then shout out "That's me not playing hard also!"

Oh DJ, I know why:

Because secretly LB is grooming Jamal to be our starting point guard and they want to get rid of Steph so they can do that so they hand little notes to the play-by-play announcers to tell them to take digs at him so that in turn it will smooth the transition when Steph is moved for a box of paper clips & rubber bands, and then Crawford will be our starting PG.
why is dolan allowing msgnetwork to rail on steph?
