What's up with Marbury?
He just had an off night
He was tired from defending Grant Hill
He was trying to implement Larry's system
He's tired of being booed and wants to be traded
He just mailed it in

Probably a combination of all of the above but I voted for mailing it in because his passiveness on offense drove me crazy

this was one of his better games on D so how could he have just mailed it in? what i really think he did was show Larry that this team can not win with him being a pass first PG.

That is an even worse reason than all of the above, if that is the case then it really shows how immature Steph really is, doing this tit for tat routine, it's stupid, selfish and most of all unprofessional, all this ego crap has got to stop, right freaking now!.

This team cannot win with an Eric Snow type PG, I wish Larry would let the old 20 8 Marbury out. Him with the new and improved Crawford, Curry and Frye would do fine in the Atlantic

Marbury is playing so far from the committed to winning style LB wants it's a joke. If you saw the post game interview with LB you'd know he could barely contain his contempt for Steph's effort and ineffectiveness. Marbury is just playing coy or dumb to insist he's giving what LB wants, and if he really doesn't get it by now he really is du...

Ah, forget it.

Listen, the last thing LB wants is listlessness, drifting, incomprehension, tentativeness, effectiveness, apathy, distractions, and negativity.

You know Curry had a big game and so did JC, if Q had made more of his shots, then steph would have had a good night Passing and perhaps the Knicks would have done a little better. If he decided to look for others more why kill him for making the effort to do that. I didn't see him not try to guard or anything else, he did take some shots and drove the ball, but he just didn't look for his shot as much as he usually does. Now everyone wants to kill him for that. Its freakin amazing how this guys just can't win.

I do think Marbury was trying to prove a point. I do think he was trying to win the game while at the trying to prove this point too. My point is Marbury has been my favorite player since he was a Rail Splitter (I am 19, born and raised in ocean parkway BK where his hole fam are legends) I know his game I know when he is having a good game. This year I have seen him have many sub-pair (non-Marbury type) games where we loose and Larry comes out and says "Marbury played grate" that's got to be frustrating to him. This team seems to be built around all the things Marbury does grate and if Brown let him play his game this team would be a whole lot better.

I think Marbs is learning the game for the first time in his career. I think this leads to his confusion as to what is a bad shot and what is a good shot. I don't think he knows at this point. When he hears be aggressive on O he automatically think it means shoot 80 times a game. I don't think he understands it just means make the other team work on D by penetrating and creating havoc. That's when numbers mean nothing. If your pass leads to the pass that leads to the shot and your numbers are down it's okay. But when you stand and dish and let your lesser capable teammates try to get their own, you aer on the surface distributing but in reality are hurting your team.

Add all this together, add in that we all hate him no matter what he does and it leads to one frustrated PG that hurts his team and does not help us as Knick fans.

I think Larry has been torn with Marbs, between getting him to run his system and playing off Marbs' natural strngths. It's a larger-scale version of what happened in the Olympics. I think Marbs is resilient enough to handle it INTERNALLY, but not externally. Someone made what I thought was a great point on another thread that Marbury is an extremely emotional guy but he's not expressive, it seethes and vaporizes around him. Maybe that towel keeps the steam and feelings inside! But it's pretty clear that unless there's an unforeseen turn of events, Larry is not going to do a 180 and say I want this team to be built around Steph, a la Iverson in PHIL or Steph's 31-point game in the Olympics. I'm a big Steph man but i'm also a Larry Brown man and for the bigger good of the franchise I'd say if Larry can't work it with him then we have to look to trade him. I feel bad for Steph on this but I hope it works out as a win-win. Steph can still really play this game and soemwhere there has a be a situation for him to win in. Remember his performances for the his first half-season here? Remember him many many games last year willing a whole team? I still do.

I think Steph is at a similar stage in his career as Spree was a few years ago. He cannot survive as a leader for an awful team. I think he's ready to listen and wants to change his legacy but I don't think he can handle the pressure of leading a poor team to greatness.

I don't hate him for this.

Bip and Marv are both right, but what's kinda sad is that Marbury is being given the chance to learn all this so late. I wonder what he'd be like if he was given a LB or a Greg P or Pat Riley or Jerry Sloan in his mid 20s. But we can't look at it like that. He can rejuvinate his career and can easily turn all of these jeers into cheers but it would help nicely that if his supporting cast was a little stronger.

I missed the game last night but I am gonna watch the rewind this afternoon at 12. I am pretty sure he wasn't pulling a Vince Carter by throwing the game like some suggest.

Crawford's playing well within the offense, Steph isn't.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Marbs was sending a message to LB. Like if I don't shoot, we don't win. LB probably told him to get others involved first and Marbs took this as a slight.

this is exactly right, Marbs penetrates and dishes less than any PG in the league for some reason

Did you see Craw drive and throw an oop to Frye? I'm sure Marbs is capable of doing that... why doesn't he?

Stephon is doing what he can to work himself into LB's system. Then again, does Larry even know what his own system is?

I agree with the first part but, Crawford had 4 freaking turnovers in the 3rd Quarter when we cut the lead to 3, and ALL of those turnovers lead to points on the other end. Don't gimme that crap.

I can't stand this crawford revisionism. Minus those TO's crawford played well, but his play sunk us deeper into the whole and I do not see he he played well within the offense with 4 critical TO's. Had that been marbury, you and everyone else would have railed him for it.

Steph didn't play a bad game. He shot poorly, and not often enough, but the refs missed some calls, he keep the ball moving alot, and he dished in the paint alot. And he played tough D on much bigger guys.

effectiveness? i would think he wants that. But as for the others, maybe some fans should stay away from the team then.
