Kurt Thomas
Tim Thomas

a line up of

C-Frye
F Kurt
F Tim Thomas

F Sweetney
F Ariza
F Lee
G Watson full MLE

my guess 14-11 3rd seed 1/2 game up atlantic

first off, who knows if we could have watson(or how we would have gotten him). also, its not like sweetney is doing better than curry at all. and i'd take AD&JJ over Kurt(basketball-wise, not caring about the finances). something tells me Frye would be having a lot more trouble if he was playing center most the time, and i hated seeing KT man the middle(undersized, too slow, no hops). Ah, Tim Thomas, who knows what he would have given us, besides heartbreak.

BUT, i'm sure LB would have gotten more out of the veterans(like KT, maybe even TT), since he wouldnt have to play so many young players. And if we did have Watson(btw that would be a very nice guard rotation), we would have a very able backup allowing steph time at the 2. So, i agree our record would be better, but i'm thinking more around .500

I'd rather have Curry in the long run b/c he's not a complementary player like Sweets and TT are.

He has the potential, and yes, potential is the key word there, to become a franchise Center...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

it doesnt really matter anyway, no matter how you slice it the real answer was we needed to get worse to get better. staying 500 is a terrible place winning 25 games with two years of unprotected picks with a 125mm payroll and no money to spend is basketball h*ll.
all we needed is lottery protection and no switcharoo 2007 and i wouldnt say a word other than we need new F guards--wed be in great position to improve the team.

yup; Sweetney is a nice complimentary player but will never be more. TT's garbage. Based on what I've heard and read, no one in the next draft has the upside Curry has.

14-11?!!! You have to be kidding me! So the two Thomases - Curry + Sweetney double our wins? Last I checked Timmy was so talented he wasn't even playing. Kurt is decent but isn't exactly a game greaker averaging under 10 & 10 this season either. Sweetney and Curry are probbalt contributing close to equally, but I think Curry has more potential(the same stuff you so highly tout w/ the picks) I know you'd rather have the picks and are trying to make the point it would have been bettter not to trade for Curry, but this is just irrational.

it doesnt matter, in fact this thread is stupid, because its not realitic among 90 other things, but lets not forget we were 16-13 last year with a similar line up. the guys we brought in this year including curry to this point sans frye have made the team much worse.

the playes havent made the team worse, larry brown did so to speak. if we had a more mainstream coach we would be around .500 right now.

I think it's safe to say that Isiah undervalued Sweetney and overvalued Curry.

Also, Kurt Thomas would be a huge help right now. Undo those two trades and the only thing we'd really miss would be Nate's energy off the bench.

If I had my pick, I'd undo those two trades and undo the Larry Brown signing, too.

Sweetney and Frye would a nice combo in the paint. Kurt would be the perfect third guy to rotate in. ah well.

edit: oh, also, yeah I would undo the freaking Jerome James disaster. How nice would Stephen Hunter and James Jones look? OR, yeah, even Earl Watson.

Briggs- we might be a game or two better- it would be hard to be worse- but, the fact that we'd have our lotto pick this year, along with san antonio's and likely a lotto pick next year- and who knows, maybe salary dump marbs & include sweetney, younger with some flexibility.

still- the wild card is curry. I think we're not getting the full picture since he's had these nagging injuries- and beside's the heart thing, he's never really had this problem.

People on this board are treating Sweetney like he's become some great player. He's an 11/6 overweight PF with little upside. Despite all the beating Curry takes, Sweetney is at least as overweight as him.

Sweetney is not on our team, so that means he's good and would make us better.
I just hope that people will like me
