I have to admit that I was a huge fan of the Marbury trade. I grew up watching the likes of Ward, Childs, etc. run the point. While they weren't even half as talented as Marbury, I think I underappreciated them. I longed for a PG who could bring excitement to the Knicks and bring us back to contention.

Throughout all of the threads and numerous debates regarding Marbury's talent and will to win, I never questioned the move. I found myself reasoning to support Marbury. Maybe Marbs just got a raw deal in his prior destinations. I thought of every excuse in the book.

I guess the honeymoon ended at the beginning of this year. Marbury started doing small things that made me question him as a player. He mentioned how he would be better suited to play the 2, after priding himself on his career long 8 assist number. He scowled at players after not making the play he wanted them to make. At this 7 game losing streak it became apparent to me. Marbury needs to go. He is our leader by default, but if anything he kills our teams confidence. We have a young team that needs a guy who can pick them up when they're down, not a guy who never smiles and doesn't have the ability to pick the rest of the guys up when they are down.

I've never been a big Marbury supporter, but there were times this season where he looked like he was really trying to get with the program - playing good D, etc. Lately though, he seems to have reverted. I still have hope that he can turn it around, but not much.

Maybe playing in New York isn't turning out to be as wonderful as he thought it would be.

Yeah I think the media the fans and his inability to help us win is all bearing donw on him. Everybody has their limits. He needs winning more than anyone. Not sure why this makes him a bad guy. Rueben Patterson is a bad guy, Steph is not. Steph is just a victim of his own mouth and other people's expectations.
I just hope that people will like me

We probably focus on Marbury too much - the whole team is playing badly right now - but he is the star player on this team, is he not? There are certain expectations that go with that.

I will never question if Stephon is a good or bad guy. The guy has shown a lot of heart in dealing with Katrina and the rooks. I just don't think he is the leader we need to get to these young guys.

by leader do you mean someone like eric snow, brevin knight, mike james or someone who can carry a team like a lebron, mcgrady, wade, kobe, duncan, amare, nash, KG? because I don't think having a floor leader will make crawford, lee, ariza into allstars and Frye into a dominant post player. Even Kidd and Nash need Amare, Marion, Carter , Jefferson & Kmart

Agreed. Unfortunately, the leader of a team is usually the team's best player. Granted some teams have vets that lead by example in practice and the way they conduct themselves. I think a player like Kidd could easily make Crawford an All-Star. He has completely transformed his game. He just seems so tentative playing with Marbury.
