Ex-Kansas center Eric Chenowith, selected by Layden in the second round last summer but cut before training camp, was released yesterday before today's summer league - the ultimate indignity. Layden picked Chenowith in the draft at 43 over Loren Woods and Jarron Collins. Chaney likes Croatian 7-foot center Mate Skelin, 26, and could invite him to camp if he has a strong Boston showing. "He has a skill level around the basket," Chaney said.

Knicks are leaving maybe 2 roster spots open for any trade that may go down.

Smart move on the Knicks' part. Hopefully those trades will help us balance all 5 positions.
