totals: 124.8 80.8 62.3

* - since h20 retired, that # is off the books
** - estimated yearly salary for eddy curry

now...as you can see, if we let the expiring deals go (penny, ad, mo) and we move marbury for a shorter contract, (i.e. steph for jalen + 2 #1's), we are looking at a cap figure of about $42 in 07/08. (on a side note, 06/07 would go up to $96 mil b/c jalen's is now on the books and kind of takes the place of h20's).

plan 2007...it can still happen.

Doesn’t look bad enough.
Isaiah and Dolan should work on it.

I can't express how happy I'd be if Isiah came out and assured us that we are rebuilding and the plan is to build a legit contender after 2007

I wonder if most knick fans would be happy about it. I certainly would, Im tired of all reckless spending and overhyping the knicks have been doing.

Marbs is the one active player past this year on the roster who you could say has an outsized contract per his play- he is just about triple everyone else

complain about Jerome James, but 5.4 isn't 18.3

You can't seriously think getting under the cap is an option under consideration by this ownership? jeez. that's called never learning from the past. It's one thing to fantasize about getting under the cap if that's you're sort of thing but you can't think it could ever happen with this ownership.

If he has a smart GM and gives the GM freedom to execute a multi-year plan that involves some setbacks, yes, it can happen. That obviously doesn't mean it will, though. Let's see what happens if Curry gets in shape, Frye develops, and Isiah adds some more young pieces.

if it isnt to acquire cap flexibility, what do you mean when you say a multi-year plan with setbacks?

Developing young players takes several years regardless of cap flexibility. Curry and Frye and the other young kids are not gonna blossom overnight even if we're over the cap
