NEW YORK - As Larry Brown walked the team through one defensive lesson after another, Stephon Marbury stood in the lane and yawned.

Maybe he was just tired from the long practice session Brown had put the team through. Maybe he was tired of Brown's lessons. Maybe he was tired of losing.

But it hardly was the picture the team needed on display as it sought to rectify the free-fall that has the team with losses in its last six games. And with the San Antonio Spurs next on the schedule Wednesday, now might be a fine time for the Knicks to grasp Brown's system. Or more precisely, to wake up.

"What team is better to start off on [than the Spurs]?" Marbury deadpanned.

Marbury, despite the repeated yawns, was one of the last players on the court, working with assistant coaches and shooting until he finally called it a day. If he was panicking, it didn't show - either in his on-court mannerisms or in his words.

What a stupid, lame point to make! Why even say that he looked bored blah blah blah when clearly he was not. He was one of the last persons on the court! This is exactly what I'm talking about. The media NY is always looking to exploit the smallest issue. It's ridiculous. They create so much un-needed drama. They create most of the controversy and make us believe that it's what everyone is saying. No, it's what one or two wacko newsreporters are saying and reporting. It's just garbage!

Steph yawned.

Hey where do you coach? I have been trying to get into it. It's like a secret society that no one wants to help the other get into "The Loop". Any advice?

Stephon looked bored? He always looks the same to me - like someone who strives at all times to keep the same expression on his face. That might make him look bored, or he might seem to be moping. I don't know - he's an enigma.

As is my policy I don't give away to many details about my personal life other than that my boy is the greatest young man ever produced. But I will say that I am not coaching at an "elite" prep school. I'm in my first year here and getting some resistance because the other guy was loved. But his teams lost. Mine will not.

Coaching is tough to get into. It depends on what you are looking to get into. College coaching is a fraternity. Unless you are a formal player normally you have to volunteer or student coach under someone before you get a shot. On the high school level it's the same. Volunteering is not a bad thing. Volunteer, stay out of the coach's way. Learn from him. Worship him, whether you like him or not and he will recommend you for a job. One recommendation from the right coach is all you need. Otherwise you just have to interview your ass off and be more prepared than anyone else

I was lucky. When I left school I was hired as a JV coach without an interview because people knew who I was. That next year our coach quit and told the AD that I was the guy. It's tough, but if you are persistant and willing to do the dirty work you can get in somewhere

Why blame the media. Just look at how we blow up the smallest details and run with it as fans.

Until the readers stop reading this crap, then they will stop writing it. THe media has always sensationalized everything! Its what they do!

ITs crap, but fans eat this stuff up, and just wait until the wins happen! WE eat it up!

Many posters here love this stuff. They love it!!! They hate a player, and it doesn't matter how meaningless or insignificant the 'infraction' is, they'll run with it. I think even the haters on this board know better than to over react to something like that.
