if we're not trying to get near or under the cap then

mo taylor for battier/miller AND cardinal + protected #1

they end up saving $45 mil and they would be $20-25 mil under the cap in '07/08

why? establish a frontcourt of battier/miller + frye + curry for the next 5 years and build around that.

i would try hard for miller as he's off the bench AND he can hit the outside shot but battier is not a bad consolation prize. two tough and more importantly, SMART players. cardinal is to take some $$$'s off their hands and will play the malik rose role. but more often than not, will be riding pine.

There's no way West dumps Battier for that.

No freakin way.

And the sad thing is we need smart, versatile players like Battier next to Curry and Frye.

But ya, Battier is as good as untouchable...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

just watching memphis games, battier starts but miller comes off the bench. i'm not sure how west ranks them but to take cardinal off their hands AND to get them into the lebron, wade, melo sweepstakes in 07 (granted a low shot but still a shot), he may do this in the offseason. to get it done now, we'd have to throw in lee or ariza, to which i'd say, "let's talk in the offseason."

West has shot down all kinds of offers involving Battier.

I'd love to get Battier, but it's not gonna happen, even for cap space.

why not try a similar deal using Penny as the bait? gets them under the cap sooner...

to be honest, I think while Battier is tempting, I'd much rather get close to the cap ourselves, it's healthier.

We have a morbidly obese payroll. Time to cut out the fat, sooner or later. I think our future is the youngings.

AS far as I'm concerned, Lee, Nate, Frye, Curry, and Jamal are untouchable...

we have to start getting rid of our own big contracts never mind giving relief to some other team, because what's happening now isn't working and it has worked the last few yrs as well.

yup.

like isiah said, and i actually believe him, our future is our youth.

time to start letting those expirings go (unless something comes along too good to pass up).

At the very least, Lee, Nate, Frye, and Curry should be untouchable. I'd personally add Jamal to that list b/c I see alot of upside in him as a PG, but that's up for debate.
