quick hits from the game...

- your celebrities of choice...reggie miller and the usual suspects...

- i didn't get into the garden until halftime. had a family friend's wedding reception in hicksville, long island at 6pm. i made a brief appearance and jetted at 7pm. by the time i got into the garden it was halftime. for the 3rd quarter, i sat in court side section 22 with a friend of mine. then made it back up to 404 for the last quarter. yeah, knicks rank right under food and water on my priority list.

- sitting courtside gives you a little different perspective on the game. first off, the players are massive. secondly, you can see the interactions between the players on the court. in this game (at least when i was there), steph kind of isolated himself. what i mean by that is after free throws, usually you go to the shooter and give him a pound. everyone does this on the team except for steph. he kind of just stays out there. and i also noticed him doing that while walking back to the bench as well. it really does look like he's either pissed at lb, doesn't care anymore, or knows he's about to get traded. tough situation for him.

- david lee got a nice little reaction when he was about to check in. i heard nate was inactive in the car coming over. sounds like he's on punishment. first the fight with malik. and it was him that lb was referring to about having to tell them the same thing 1000 times over as well as the shot clock comments. so nate is on punishment and will probably stay that way for a little bit. he went from the msg hype machine, to fan favorite, to starter, to 7 minutes, to inactive in a matter of 3 weeks. until malik, mo, or AD get traded, we may not see him for a little bit.

- and speaking about mo, AD, and malik getting traded...can we afford to? i mean for every great thing frye does offensively, he makes a bad play defensively. and with curry and his nagging injuries, we can't afford to move out any frontcourt guys right now. (kurt thomas, can you please pick up the white courtesy phone?)

- the big game james was suprisingly effective last night. good for him. now he can take the next 3 or 4 games off and come back HARD in orlando.

- mo looked feisty tonight but you KNOW he's going to shoot. and that's the problem.

- there was a play in the final 3 minutes of the game where crawford had the ball on a semi-break and steph was on the wing ahead and he was asking for it. crawford didn't give it to him and steph got pissed. kind of threw his arms down. jamal probably should've given steph the ball as he had only had one guy back but his reaction to not getting it is probably why he'll eventually get moved.

- ball movement looked crisp AGAIN when it went through crawford. and you can see that when it does, more people get involved and frye starts cooking offensively again. steph played decent but it's a noticeable difference when he's allowed to handle the rock for a good part of the shot clock. when i got to the game, steph had 5 assists at halftime. by the end of the game, 5 assists. i'm not saying crawford is our answer at point, but the game is different when he's allowed to handle it. looks like the 3 guard rotation is going to stick for a little bit and more pg duties heading craw's way.

- IF anybody is going to take 23 shots on our team, it should be frye. totally inexcusable. he's already proven to be our best shooter. he had granger on him in the 4th but almost never got the ball in the post. bad recognition by lb. but even if he doesn't want to play frye in the post, he should be setting him up for jumpers. i understand him trying to baby frye a little bit towards the end of the game but come on man, we're 6-17. frye needs to play AND shoot.

- q's role for us should be a scrappy player getting some boards and getting garbage points. relying on his jumper is not a good thing for us.

- tough calls on us down the stretch as it seemed like we were playing IN indiana.

oh well, another game, another loss. played better in this one so at least we didn't get blown out but now we're -11 in the loss column and in the midst of a potential 9 game losing streak. we're not 100% out of it but it is time for something to happen. i don't know if it's a trade, if lb does something, or maybe we just get a day or two off to clear our minds. i think anybody on the team 25 and under should not get moved. everyone else can. btw, you know who i would love on this team if steph isn't traded? grant hill. veteran player, a leader, and can play SF. i don't think we can get him but you get my point.

it's been 9 home games, and we're now 3-6. i have 32 games left...i don't know how many more of these "LIVE from..." reports i can do as i'm less and less inspired.

The Knicks are TERRIBLE. We've always asked for it to get torn down and fully rebuild. It's torn down. We are rebuilding. We just do not have our Lotto pick this year when it looks like we might win the damn thing. Why can't we win things next year when Oden is coming out? Get ready in NY for suckage like the bulls went through for YEARS. Except we never had MJ and 6 championships in NY. And the BULLS still suck (they aren't going to win the trophy again anytime soon, so that is "sucking" to me).

Yikes, I think everyone kinda knew that something like this would happen, but it’s hard to hear it confirmed. Marb is isolating himself from the team and in doing so showing why he is only a second tier allstar and not at all a leader. Disappointing.

Confirmed on the Nate punishment.

Malik isn’t going anywhere any time soon but you may see AD gone by the trade deadline for his contract. I am sure that all things considered, Zeke would rather rid himself of Penny first and keep AD for teaching purposes and some D for the length of this season.
- the big game james was suprisingly effective last night. good for him. now he can take the next 3 or 4 games off and come back HARD in orlando.

Did he looked hobbled to you? I thought I had heard that Big Game hurt his achilles and he did look a little gimpy out there. I would like to see 1) James only get the ball in the post when he has a clear mismatch 2) James only think about D and offensive boards 3) when he gets a defensive rebound he should not be able to pass it forward, only hand it off to a ball-handler (to avoid an additional turnover).
- mo looked feisty tonight but you KNOW he's going to shoot. and that's the problem.

That’s the problem with a 1-deminsional type player, although his D is kinda there at times. Mo got robbed on a few plays that could have changed the flow of the game.

I have seen Marb be in a position where he could go in for a contested layup (and have the potential to get fouled) or where he could pass it off to a semi wide open Frye/Mo/other player and he chose to keep the ball himself. That’s the difference between Marb and Jkidd/Nash. Marb is not as keen at getting other people their shots and knowing when is a good time to get his. There were a lot of shots in this game that I thought were VERY good by Marb, but there were at least 7-10 situations where he could have just as easily passed the ball.
- q's role for us should be a scrappy player getting some boards and getting garbage points. relying on his jumper is not a good thing for us.

Agreed. I am OK with the post ups.

yes - james did look hurt so he gets props for being out there and being effective. although his offensive move is on par speed-wise with deke's.
