"They had like miscommunication out there. They didn't help each other," Turkoglu said. "They left really good shooters, Pat and me, they left us really, really open all the time. I think they have a bunch of young guys there and they're still learning, so that's why they messed it up. You can't leave guys who are making shots in a row like that, you have to do something."

funny, even the opponent was baffled at our horrible play

it is bad recognition, I mean guys will leave open guys with the ball to go guard their guys who either can't shoot or don't have the ball, I mean in JV ball, you are taught to guard the guy with the ball, and force him to pass... never leave him alone..

yeah it's embarrassing......

The players don't know what is going on cuz they can play well one night then all of a sudden they get a DNP coaches decision.

The defense is one thing but what is the excuse for not coming right back and scoring on the other end? Guys don't have a clue what to do. The Knicks have a good center they got a rookie of the year candidate, a top point guard a great swing man rotation and some skilled bigs. Larry just gets off scott free and no one cares......just blame it on Isiah and Marbs. It hurts man.

Wow! Can we get any lower than this? Next time we'll see Larry call a time out and the opposing team will come to our side to explain us how to compete against them? Our players just don't care anymore. Have they given up on Brown? Sometimes it looks that way...

It does, but it looked that way with Lenny and Herb too. Who exactly are they saving themselves for?

exactly. Marbury, Crawford, ariza and Q are responsible for that. Crawford and MArbury primarily since they were here last year when we had the same problem guarding against the 3

Turk is right. Blame Isiah for going in one direction: young and athletic defensive prowess be damned. And then acquiring the best coach avaiable, Brown, but one who doesn't fit the players he went out and got. So, where do we go from here? Either the guys learn to play defense, or we trade the guys, or we hope the coach moves on in a short time and we find a coach with less of a resume but one who better fits our talent.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

"It's weird, man," guard Quentin Richardson said. "That team isn't better than us like that, where they come in our own gym and kick our butts. That's something we as players have to look ourselves in the mirror and say, 'If we were out there on the street playground, would we let somebody beat us like that?' "

Yeah but right now the team is obviously confused. In order to play great defense you have to have guys in there who know their role and what to do in a given situation. The lack of consistency is directly related to a lack of cohesiveness on D and O. Its really funny that the players can get slammed so hard for something that is obviously a coaching problem.

I'll explain. If you've played most of your games with a certain group of guys but only a few actually played consistently and they've never played with the same guys, you can't expect them to play perfect defense or offense. This is a nearly totally new squad except for Steph and JC. So why do some of you want to keep making it seem like the holdovers from last year are the reason THIS team can't guard the 3. Last I checked Steph and JC don't guard Turkoglu or Garrity, so why are you blaming them. Its a team thing had LB developed some consistency over the 1st 20 games maybe they wouldn't be playing like strangers. When will you guys get it.

Instead of helping things along by playing Steph and JC together, guys who at least have some experience with each other, he's had them separated and so in most cases these guys have no history that are playing with each other. Most of the teams we're facing didn't have nearly the turnover we've had and add to that a new coach and system. There's talent here but LB didn't do everything he could to get these guys ready. He was too busy telling them how bad they were fundementally and convincing himself that he needed to play the old vets. Now how much help has that been to the kids who hadn't played and now have to jump in and do everything right.

Valid points, but guys are usually labeled good defensively or bad, and there is a reason for the label. Occasionally guys do change;ie, Chauncey Billups.

nixluva, I wasn't referring to just the orlando game but every game this year and I listed Q & Ariza as well as steph and Craw. None of those guys play defense with pride on every single possession

This year opposing teams shoot: 6.8 for 18.6

Last year opposing teams shot: 5.7 for 15.6

We really need to improve that. For example, this year Detroit only allows 3.3 makes for 10.4 attempts from 3. Memphis allows teams to go 4.4 for 14.2 from 3. allowing an average of 7 three pointers per game is insane.
