I have my doubts. Even when he plays at all-star level he is not a Fan's pick and the coaches don't seem to like him either.

I almost named the thread: "Has Marbury Peaked?" I think he has. He has lost explosiveness and his J looked a lot better when he was with the Nets. Perhaps his ankle problems have hurt his game.

In any case I don't think he is going to get any better, nor is he at a plateau, he is declining ever so slowly, at least it seems that way.

Perhaps it is time to cut our ties to Marbury. He reminds me of Kenny Anderson. Marbury has had a better career by the numbers, but the similarity is they are both both NYC legends who went to Georgia Tech for a very short period of time, and they were both supposed to be "The Next Point Guard". And neither have enjoyed the success that everyone expected. Getting traded to a team where he is clearly not the best player (Like Indiana.) may help him in all respects.

It's kind of sad.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

What we are seeing is LB's doing. Players don' decline this quickly without a serious injury. Just last year he was busting ass. A few games this season too. He is trying to play LB's way and it is destroying everything he is useful at doing.

What he is useful at doing doesn't win games.

He's doing what LB asks and we still aren't winning.

Correction, he is trying but incapable of doing what LB wants. Where is his defense? Where are his assist numbers? How come a guy like Brevin Knight can get 10+ assists consistently, also on a team with no players who average more than 20 pts and Steph can't get more than 7 these days? He never leads players to the hoop. He doesn't drive and kick out the ball. What has he done so well to deserve respect, support, etc... besides consistently make layups when driving to the right?

Last year we saw Marbury tired and spacey at the end of games and that was when massaging his way through practice and only playing one side of the court. Playing D and practicing could be taking a toll.

Steph is a very fit player but I think he breaks down mentally rather quickly, especially when forced out of his comfort zone - like a trap or zone, let alone a whole new offensive structure.

Also, last year in a film session, when Wilkens criticized Steph's defensive rotations Steph told him it was because his defensive schemes "stink". I think Steph doesn't respond well to authority. I think he's in an extended hissy fit right now. Coaches don't dig that.

Plus he's a tweener, plus he's lost a lot of lift, plus he's never been a great shooter. And yeah, at 29 he's plateaud unless he can radically alter his game into a midrange specialist.

My guess is he wont be an all-star again and if he is it will be as a distant reserve and if someone key is injured.

Is Brevrin Knight playing in this kind of offense where the coach calls a play everytime down and the Pg's first duty is to pass it to a wing player? Does he get to run at all? does he have the freedom to create?

Players never cut to the hoop, or very rarely.

Steph drives and kicks out the ball quite a bit, who on our team can hit a shot? You don't watch alot of Knick games do you?

Pathetically, I watch nearly every game. I seen most of this year's monstrosities. I do see Marbury dumping passes off on the wings. I do see that no one on the team has a consistent J, Marbury included. I do see that Marbs often stifles the offense by taking a jumpshot for no apparent reason. I do see that he cannot get the ball into the post effectively. The offense is stagnant, Marbs included. He does not cut to the hoop either. He does not know how to feed Frye when he has superior position. Marbs is not performing at the level of a team leader. I expect more of him if this is, in fact, his team. But he doesn't act like it. If he an LB are bumping heads, I drop him. You drop LB. That's fine. But as I said before, history says its Marbs fault. If Marbs wants to stay, he has to step up. I don't think he is capable.

Not on this team. Brown is forcing him to play both offense and defense. I don't think Marbury has ever been as to really do that in his career. I know he was apt to play defense in his rookie year but he became more of a offense threat.
