Yep, you're right. bUT I think this one is decent IF YOU LIKE THE IDEA OF MOVING MARBURY FOR CAP PURPOSES, AND GETTING ARTEST.

I like the trade...
Balances us out further and brings a much needed pick our way.

There is no way New York gets the best player and the #1 draft pick in this scenario--it's funny how we always come out on top in these proposals.

You think? I think Toronto does great in this trade. They move 3 useless vets in Rose & 2 Williams, plus James & a pick, while receiving Marbury (he'll get people back in the seats playing with CV & Bosh), good b/u PG in Johnson, and great locker room presence & stabilizer in Rose. NY is taking on the scrubs & Rose while giving them Marbury, so I think it's fair that we get a #1 pick next yr (not the ODEN year).

I think the plan is pretty well thought out. I can see why teams would do it. I think Indiana's package might be a little light and the Knicks a little heavy. But, I don't think there is any deal breaker in there. It really depends on whether Indiana likes cap room. There may be a lot of extra pieces flying around in this trade, somewhat unnecessarily.
This is the Randle.

I don't think a package of AD (ready to retire), Lee (unproven rookie), Ariza (unimproved sophomore), and James (30 year old mediocre journeyman point guard) looks very good to Indiana for Artest and Croshere.

Another really bad trade idea that any GM in his right mind would never take part in these ridiculous transactions!

Well, Walsh said that they are not looking to dealing Artest for vets.
I agree that Lee & Ariza are not proven, but many GMs liked Lee before the draft, while James is having a breakout season. I'm sure Indy would appreciate the idea of reducing future payroll by $33mm ($15mm reduction for next season). If that's not enough, maybe Isiah can give them a future 2 pick.

Generally agreed but when you are willing to take the baggage (remember the guy having trouble feeding his kids?) sometimes we do get the best player in the deal
