Over the last couple weeks, Kevin Garnett and Ron Artest both mentioned NY as a place where they would like to be traded. What is the new interest in NY?

I actually think it is Brown. There seems to be more interest this year and I think the coach is the only thing that has changed.

It's actually most likely a combination of all of that.

Yeah, I imagine there can be more than one actual cause. I guess I was interested in knowing what the main cause is, since I have my doubts about a couple of the "causes" up there. Like "running with marbs" and "IT's culture" But I have heard them mentioned on the Boards.

Usually players want to come to NY because they are from the area.

I guess it is player by player. Szerbiak fits you description. Kobe considered NY during FA because of the tremendous amount of Nike dollars that were available. KG seems to want the NY spotlight instead of playing in Fargo or wherever that stadium is.

I think it is probably a combination of 1,2 and 7. However, I suspect they don't really know what they're getting into. Not everyone can play and thrive in New York.

Webber, Sheed, Carter, Melo, KG, Artest over the last few yrs are the top stars that have said they wanted to play for NY. Webber used us to get more money though. So im glad we didn't trade for him when his knees were shot. Sheed wanted to play under Isiah and with Marbury. Carter wanted to play under Isiah and wanted to be a star in NY. Melo played for Cuse so he liked his time here in NY. KG probably to go to a team not scared to spend money. And because of Brown.

But it all about the Market and attention NY sports recieve. If you play well for any NY team it could make you a legend.

I believe it's most of the selections, but NYC would be even more attractive if the team was winning!.

My impression is that players go where the money goes. Most of the time when the say they like NY, it's to drive up their asking price at the negotiating table.(i.e. Webber, Dampier and just about every big name FA)

I tend to agree, but what about instances, like Artest and Garnett where they are already committed to contracts?

I'd say it's all of the above. Shame it wasn't included in the poll.
