No one is giving up that much for Artest. If that's their expectation, Indy's going to have to remain an unhappy distracted team with Ron.

^ Yup.

Yep. And as much as some fans want Artest, I guarantee most coaches, GM's, and owners don't want the headache. No way do you want Artest to be the foundation of your team, especially since he has a rap album due out which he'll need to take time out to promote...

I agree with you guys. If this were a trade just based on talent the Knicks would be absolutely REQUIRED to give up much than I proposed before but everyone knows the deal with Ron Artest. The Pacers are the biggest losers with all this becuase I think Ron will seriously keep his head on straight from now on and if he gets traded somewhere else I think he'll excel and his value will be right back to where it was before everything happened last year. The sad part for the Pacers is that as of right now, his value is an absolute shell of what it used to be and the Pacers know this which is why they are going to have to do what Ron wants or live with the pissing and moaning that ensues.

I'm not really impressed w/ Nate or Lee to be honest. And I think Artest is really all that. When was the last time we had a marquee defender like that that still could score some? Don't say Spree, Artest is light years ahead of that dude even when he was w/ us. Tinsely is a soild point too. Maybe I would modift the trade taking out Robinson and the Pacer pick. But maybe I misunderstand..is it crazy b/c we would be giving up too much?

Something like Lee, Frye, Robinson, Rose and AD for Tinsely + Artest and a pick

Holy crap.

How many shroom teas did you have this morning with your pancakes?

^ Actually Spree was always one of the elite defenders at the SF spot.

When he was with GS, MJ said that out of all the players in the league, Spree guarded him best.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Yeah that's true, but it's been a looong time since we had someone close to that. However, trading Frye, Lee, and Robinson is just insane for Artest basically is just insane. Indiana doesn't seem to be in "the driver's seat" so I would just give them a decent offer and see what they do

That may be true Bobs, Spree was absolutely no slouch on defense in his hayday but I gotta agree with Shake. Artest has won defensive player of the year from the SF spot, can't think how many times that has been done, if at all.

Artest has done alot of unique things, unfortunately most of them have gotten him into trouble.

Yeah Knight, thats the sad part about Ron. He'll never be known for his tenacious D, hustle or grittiness ever again, it'll always be for that one night. I think the Knicks gotta take a chance on this though as long as the asking price is where most of think it should be.

Coope was 1 of the first to win it.

Kinda surprised Pippen never got the nod.

Either way, I never said we should give the boat for Ron. I think an expiring + 2 youngins should get it done.

again HIGH risk acquisitions are the m.o. of this team.

artest would immediately be the best player on the team. and the difference is that he would be our first TWO WAY acquisition. but we all know about the baggage. regardless, you pretty much can move anyone except frye and curry for him.

Here's an interesting interview with Ron last month. He said he would probably retire if Indiana wins a championship this year and he drops a freestyle rap...

And the thing is my trade involving Frye would be the very most I would give up for Artest..not like we offer that 1st and if I was Isiah and Walsh pissed me off maybe not at all.
