I know it's hard to take ANY positives out of Fryes and Currys shooting from last night, but....

I was actually quite happy with what I saw. Frye was being aggresive with his moves basically the whole night. He just needs to get the footwork going against better defenders and he has to learn to keep his dribble alive in the post when he needs to. I'm talking about all those TOs he had early. As for as all the misses, I'm fine with that. He would normally be hitting those jump hooks and turnarounds and layups like crazy. It was simply a bad night. He was playing hard out there, and it was good to see that he and the staff realize he needs to get the post up game ESTABLISHED so he can be that true double scoring threat. Post ups and jump shots. The guy needs to work on his confidence though. He seems to get really hard on himself, but these bad nights are gonna come. He has to realize he's not going to shoot 12 for 16 on even most occasions. I would like to see them do something similar next time, with them just dumping it into him, keep it up, keep it up, and I promise he wont be shooting 4-16 next time. He's too good a player.

As for Curry, I liked what I saw in those jump hooks he taking. A lot more of those are going to be going in than last night. Once he establishes that, he can really really work on going up strong.

This frontcourt duo is going to be really good.

frye seems too weak to post up other players, but I think hes got the potential to improve in that area though

It has nothing to do with being weak. He isn't weak. He's got a decent upper body. He's very skilled and he has a very HIGH release. Maybe he's not strong enough to completely overpower a guy, but what does bein "Weak" have anything to do with putting up a pump fake and taking advantage of that. If your opponent falls for the fake, it doesn't matter how much stronger he is, Channing can just go right by and lay it in or dunk it. And if can just get in the right spot, turn around and put up the jump hook. He can do it.

he's talking about his legs. You can't finish a move if you can't maintain balance when hit.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

The thing I want to see Frye work on is rebounding. With both he and curry on the floor, they duplicate each other's low post abilities, and its basically a choice to dump it into curry or frye for the same play.

If Frye could work on boxing out and moving to the ball on missed shots rather than waiting for it to come to him he could become a much more valuable asset alongside curry, given Eddy's poor-to-mediocre-rebounding habits. If Curry gets doubled and puts up a miss, Frye would be there to clean up the garbage.

Aguirre might also want to work on developing his dribble to the point where he could pump fake and drive in for a layup or dunk. Right now he picks up his dribble and writhes around before using his jump hook. Last night, the refs were calling the writhing travelling (he kept his pivot foot, but this might be a call refs will start making on him).

If he could develop his dribble, he also might not have to spin around in midair for fade-away jumpers out of the post. This is the shot he seems to have trouble making, which usually comes from the left block. Frye's defense is already pretty good, so I'm hoping he develops his rebounding and dribbling at some point during this or next season to take his game to the next level

frye will be fine in the post. he was nervous as hell and you could tell. that was the first time he got a steady diet in the post. he was missing 5 foot bank shots too. it was an aberration game. you give him 15 shots a night, post or spot up, he will make 8 of those shots.

agreed. I also think he could start drawing more calls if he is able to dribble drive into the lane. He and Curry could then be valuable for getting opposing teams into foul trouble.

Yeah. Like I said, he just needs to get the footwork going. However, I noticed that he started off a bit too far, taking shots very close to the 3 pt mark, and I know he's hit a couple of those, but that's still a but out of his range. I was happy with what I saw though. He played aggresively, and it just so happened to be against Shawn Marion a lot of the times. IN a couple of years, Shawn will not want to guard him that much anymore.

What I have seen happen to Frye in the last two games were two critical alley opp passes go right over his head when all he did was watch the ball go right into the players hadns for a dunk, when from the video I have seen he could've at least raised his arms up to deflect the pass, instead of just watching it sail over his head. I know that's easier said then done those things happen so fast, not everyone can see it that clearly, it's just an observation!.

Yesterday he tried to hard to make things work because of Lute Olsen's presence, I don't fault him for that he at least put force a good effort, He just needed to show more poise and not force things like Curry does and even MT did as well. Frye is a smart kid, he will figure all of these things out along with the coaching staff, but I am very concerned with the overall effort of this team, it's inconsistent, they seem to be happy when they have a good quarter or half rather than a full 48 mins. They don't seem to make the right adjustments to their offense when the other team throws a zone defense at them, then on defense the guys seems to fall asleep at times when it's really counts, granted I am not happy with the lack of respect they get from the refs, but this team can't be too concerned with making that as an excuse for their failures.

The "writhing" problem doesn't have anything to do with footwork. The problem is that he picks up his dribble too early, which necessitates using footwork, pivots etc. to get off his shots.

That's certainly the first time I ever heard someone say Frye and Curry's low-post skills are duplicates of each other.

They aren't, but Curry has been going to that jumphook which IS part of the Frye arsenal. If Curry can get that baby 10 to 12 footer going and if Frye can establish that post however, then it will be a formidable backcourt.

NotFrye, I understand that he picks up his dribble too early sometimes, or at least that was the case yesterday. But hey, he showed he was a rookie yesterday. He kinda took one for the team, in a sense. He had an ugly day, but he still kept going and going and didn't give up. He looked pissed as all hell at the end, but that's part of the game. You gotto have these ugly games to get better or as my boy Stephn Tyler says: "You gotto lose to know how to win."
