But he's the worst starter in the league. The #'s are mind numbing

here's one thought about AD. Everyone knows he is a 1 year rent and MAY be traded at the trade deadline. His on the court numbers SUCK. But I gotta think that he is earning his starting position ONLY BECAUSE of his lockerroom and practice habits. Knicks gotta lot of young impressionable guys. What if it's AD that is showing Jackie Chan and some of the others how to act and practice and be a professional NBAers. That stuff is priceless.

Did you mean waive or trade? Isiah doesn't waive players with large expiring contracts.

That would be over thinking! NBA is all about the fantasy numbers, no intagables allowed!

If it was Lenny or Herb I would agree, but Larry is supposed to be a strong enough personality to get that across. Hell... Skiles was able to do it. I know what your saying and I'm in partial agreement, but its at a point where AD is clearly hurting us on the court. I mean whats the example? We are losing and he's getting killed.

We got Penny and AD expriring. I doubt Isiah does both. LOGIC, if there is any left on this earth applicable to the Knicks financial cap must include some kinda of fiscal constraints. The team cannot logically make money with an after tax figure of $180 million dollars.

Even a Cap Whore like you (one of three posts you relate to expiring contracts!) must have some idea towards fiscal fitness?

No doubt these contracts allow for great flexibility, but unless a KG can be had, or other block buster, I doubt we blow the budget. Of course we could exchange a player and a smaller expriring deal for one of ours. Lots of choices.

Agreed that AD is killing us on the court. I think they even gave an example during the LAC game. Breen was talking about how the 3rd quarters were killing the Knicks and AD noticed it and noticed how guys were just chit-chatting during half time instead of preparing for the second half. AD went to each individual player and spoke to them personally about what to during the half. Call it what you will, maybe he is another ear for Brown or Brown can speak through AD.

A counter arguement for the Scott SKiles thing is that he had AD on his team for 2 years helping him out behind the scenes. Brown ALWAYS has a vet or 2 in the lockerroom to help him out. AD and Rose are those guys and he rewards them for their efforts.

Brown said this last week after he questioned a little about Frye is not starting. He said that AD is the Knicks "Captain of Defense" He instructs them where to be on defense, and how to set picks. He is suppose to be working with Frye, Butler and Lee. I know Malik is always in Frye and Butler's ear so I definately believe he is in the role of "wise veteran" But Brown truly believes AD is the reason why the Knicks are playing better D, which they are. But AD still stinks like monkey b$lls.

Any defensive help AD gives is outweighed by the fact that he's too old to do anything productive on the court. Can't he just scream instructions from the sideline? Maybe the NBA would grant us an exception and let him stand out of bounds under the basket to scream instructions!

And if AD's on court defensive guru abilities are so great, why are his numbers so bad? If he is captain of the defense, it sure seems they do better when the captain is on the bench!

And yet all three were replies to other people's posts about the expiring contracts. Obviously the expiring contracts are on a lot of other posters minds. I'm just replying to their comments.

The idea that this team is concerned about lowering payroll is one promoted only by people who never learn from history.
