This season it seems that Steph is not finishing his drives to the basket as well as he usually does. He is drawing fouls at times but he never seems to convert the layup. Anyone have any ideas on why? I thought he was better at converting last year. Is it the D collapsong on him because they know he is not inclined to pass it off?

Oh...and can Curry ever draw a foul and finish strong? It seems like too often and in perticular at the end of last nights game when he expectes there to be contact he tries to avoid it by doing some mid air pump of the ball. Why?

Father Time my friend, Steph's not a kid anymore. First he lost his dunking ability, next will be his ability to hang in the air and make those last second adjustments. After he can't make those crazy layups anymore I'm not sure what his value would be.

I'd say overall he has not been playing as well as he did last year.
He finished in the lane more, he shot the tear drop to perfection, and he displayed pretty good mid-range shooting.

This year he is all drives to the lane. He rarely shoots a mid-range jumper, and rarely shoots the tear drop. He's gotta diversify his shot selection, because for his game, driving all the way to the hoop isn't always the highest percentage shot.

Thus far, Curry has been a piss poor finisher. He NEVER takes contact and makes the basket. I swear I think he has done it once all season. I think that will improve though. part of it is strength and part of it is desire. Steph at 6-2 takes contact and finishes among the best in the league, and he is getting hammered by guys who are Curry's size.

I'm not worried about Steph, he'll find his stride either by adjusting, or returning to his form.

Funny, to me, Curry looked kinda like Tim Duncan, finishing around the basket, until the D started collapsing on him and nobody else would hit their shots.

i think what we're seeing is playing defense taking it's toll on steph. he used to play 40 mins, but most of it on one side of the ball. now he's going all out on both ends and down the stretch of games, it looks like he's running out of gas b/c we aren't limiting his minutes thanks to no true 3rd guard on the roster. for his sake, and ours, we desperately need a 3rd guard here that can handle the ball and limit steph to 30-35 mins a night.

I don't know if thats why he's missing, but either way, we do need a competent backup. Nate is in love with himself, and his shot attepmts. Steph shouldn't be playing that many minutes.

Good point about Steph needing more rest. Even if Larry doesn't have confidence in Nate at pg, he should give Steph the rest he needs. Better to have him playing less minutes at full effectiveness.

notice how against seattle we went on the run when marbs sat down?

Not only tired- but I think a lot of his fundamentals (i.e., poor free throw shooting, turnovers, failure to hit outside shots, finish on lay ups) are being impacted by the pressures of playing for larry brown- he's constantly thinking and when it becomes instinctive, that's when things should improve.

He also look like he got hurt last night.

He also didn't get the proper rest in the 2nd half because as he sat, the lead was dwindling away and LB put him back in the game sooner than I think he would have if we did not start losing.

Steph does have a lot of mileage on him. And penetrating among big men take more energy out of you than playing on the perimeter.
