He is a work in progress. He left guys open on the perimeter many many times against the sonics and we are lucky they just were not hitting.

He switched off on Ray during a pick and roll and just left Ray out on the perimeter all by himself for no reason. He didn't get up on rad about 3 times and one of them was a open 3 that he made. Frye has to work on that. I loved when he got the Tech tho. He definitely is not soft.

Defense and rebounding, Frye, lets get it!!!!

despite his 20 ppg, he is being UNDERUTILIZED on the offensive end.

defense and rebounding will come, especially with lb coaching him and his work ethic so i don't think any of us have to worry about him.

but we have to give him an A++++ for this rook, all things considered.

I would have to say that Frye doens't have the quickest feet ever, but he is a smart player and continues to grow. THere was one sequence where he posted up someone.... and you could tell that he had been working on the particular move in practice and just wanted to get it in. This guy is for real. Guarding 6'9" guys on the 3 point perimeter is HARD, but he'll get the nuance of it soon.

btw, my boy frye got a nice little mean streak in him. in fact, down the stretch of games, i would like the big shots to be taken in this order:

1. crawford
2. frye
3. steph

He's not supposed to be guarding allen! Where the heck was the knick who was supposed to be?

Who was it? Crawford? marbs?

You don't think Larry said- ok, on the high pick and roll with Allen, I want Frye to switch and take him on the perimeter?

And Frye has probably never had to guard a big on the perimeter- ever until the NBA.

yea, I like his mean streak also, what I don't like is steph not giving him the ball when he had his man sealed in the post, I noticed that twice. The fact that frye wants the ball in the post impresses me, it shows me he is just not in love with his jumper only...

its the NBA **** happens. BUt you dont just run away from him after your defensive assignment has been switched because of a pick and roll.

Frye has been amazing. The best player on the team this season, and more considering he is a rookie. Its funny how we all wanted Bynum and bought thast "soft" lable put to him. Great pick, Isiah!

I wanted Bynum and, while Frye has turned out to be a very good pick, I believe that Bynum will be better in the end.

Frye will stay better than Bynum, who is known as Benoit out here. The Guards need to look for Frye instead of just looking for each other.

Frye seems to have a much higher IQ and to be a lot more coachable. That must count for something.

I had wanted Bynum too, but I had also wanted Isiah to keep his picks and tank it for the next 2-5 years and really rebuild and build a true contender.

Bynum, I suspect, at best turns into Eddy Curry- and I'm not so sure that Eddy is ever going to be better than Frye- he is starting to look like the real deal.

And the only way Frye is going to get better defensively (pick & rolls, perimeter defense) is by being out there every night, seeing it, reacting to it, making mistakes and watching film and then doing it the right way.

Yea, Frye has been like our best player this year- and by far probably the MOST CONSISTENT!

Crawford good and great at stretches- but where was he in the first half!

Do ya'll remember when I said Eddy Curry would be a beast?

I would like to switch all my beast talk to the Young Frye Guy. He's GRRREEATTT

I think we now want Frye to do things that no other NBA player does as a rookie none the less. I mean when was the last time you seen Shaq guard somebody out on the perimeter. I mean come on, now. Frye has to play all the positions defensively and still score.

An aspect of playing defense is making your man work on offense. Apart from Frye, none of the Knicks' forwards can really do that. Consequently, he must start and play as close to 48 minutes as possible.

I doubt Bynum will able be better than Frye. I think Briggs was right about his comparison to Haywood. I been watching Laker games so far this season (TiVo them when Knicks are on) as I said I would do. Bynum is so far behind what even other 18 year players do it is frightening. Think Diop first season. Bynum who appears more coachable than Brown was but seems to be lost, and not athlethic as I was lead to believe. I personally think he is too lite for his size right now. He should focus on trying to be a back to basket banger, the only problem is that the refs seem to not let anyone do that much banging anymore. Look at Curry, the guy is doing what Shaq did his first couple of years and he is getting call for offensive fouls.
Bynum had one good game which I really like him in. I would like to see him get more time, I am afaird this kid will not develop under this coach and playing with Kobe (the guy is a ball hawk and good ball hawk but none the less...). btw, Kwame really sucks the guy is now regressing. That guy has so much talent, meanwhile Butler is fourishing off the bench for the Wizards. Damn too bad we couldn't get him.
