Former Sonics Center James Comes To Defense Of Lewis

Tacoma News-Tribune - Former SuperSonics center Jerome James said he does not think Rashard Lewis should have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

“Rashard is such a good guy,” said James, who is now with the Knicks. “One of the best guys I ever met. Big heart, loves everybody, tries to please everybody.

“I’d like to meet the cop who arrested him. I know he is doing his job, but I still think he is a (jerk). Rashard is too good of a guy. He could arrest somebody who is a (jerk), who doesn’t do anything for the community. If (Rashard) had somebody in the car with him, let them take him home. Or let somebody else get behind the wheel.

“I hate to see something like that happen to Rashard Lewis. And I don’t care what people say about my comments, I love Rashard.”

For the record, Lewis had two others in the car with him the night he was arrested, but those people, according to the police report, both appeared intoxicated as well. A separate car picked up those people at the scene before Lewis was taken to the Mercer Island police department. [READ]

With the money Rashard Lewis makes, if he knows he was going out drinking, he should have hired a limo to drive him around all night. Duh.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

completely agreed. I guess I don't understand why professional athletes don't hire more drivers.

I don't care how stupid Jerome James sounds, I love Jerome James. You can talk bad about some other jerk. If some other jerk runs his mouth off stupidly, you can make fun of them. Make fun o fsomeone who doesn't keep Mcdonald's in business. But I love Jerome James. I don't care what anybody else says.

Jerome James' utterances are entirely amusing in their entire lack of any logical relationship to reality.

Jerome James is one funny dude; we’re just not sure if he’s trying to be. In an article we saw yesterday, Jerome had this line about missing Seattle: "I wish I could have been (there) to help Robert Swift out a little more. He looks like he needs it." Then James had this one about playing PF next to Eddy Curry: "I’ll go out and defend the fours. I’m not looking to score 20 points, but I am looking to get 10 blocks, 10 rebounds and six fouls." Finally, here is Jerome’s response to the criticism he’s taken in New York: "It’s early. Before it’s all over, they will be chanting my name and lifting me up on their shoulders and carrying me around the building." ...

this is one funny dude.
