john nash is an idiot.

The New York Post reported Saturday that Portland GM John Nash spoke to New York last month about trading Miles and Patterson in a deal that would include veteran Antonio Davis, whose contract expires after this season. Not true, Nash says.

“I haven’t talked to the Knicks in about six weeks,” Nash says. “We did discuss a deal with Darius and Ruben, but they wanted us to take Penny Hardaway. We wanted (rookie forward) Channing Frye. They weren’t willing to include him.”

...From the Portland Tribune.

Wow, he is an idiot.

Thats as bad as when Layden was trying to trade Kurt Thomas for Bosh during the draft.

I'm surprised; it's quite rare for a GM to be quoted on the specifics of trade proposals that he was involved in that were rejected. I wonder how Ruben and Darius feeling knowing that their GM not only is trying to trade them but is also admitting it to the public. It also can only decrease their trade value now that the GM is quoted as trying to move them.

Is he definitely having surgery? I thought it was simply an option they were considering.

Portland's best shot at getting our rookie of the month was on draft night. It's nice to have assets that many GMs want though.

Yeah that is very weird. When I first saw this I was very surprised that Nash actually went into details like that. A smart GM would never do that.

That's crazy. That's like asking a team to take Penny and give up 2 #1 picks. Or like asking a team to give up a fairly comparable player plus a #1 and an option to switch 1st round picks in another draft.

What moron of a GM would do something like that?

Yeah really. What kind of moron GM would acquire a 22 year old potential All-Star center. Who wants one of them? WTF?!

Either way his value is in the basement because of the knee issues.

After getting rookie of the month last month, Frye is averaging 21 PPG on 60% shooting off the bench this month! We haven't had a rookie this promising since the 1980s.
