Elton Brand
Marcus Camby
AI nowhere near the list. I don't get why he's the *only* star in this league who can be on sub .500 teams and get MVP consideration. He's the only star where winning is not a consideration in MVP voting.

It's amazing how Camby is even being considered by some of us right now. When we traded him, it looked like the beginning of the end. He's become a new beast, but I doubt that HE even gets considered at this point. It will probably be the same ol.

Camby's putting up 17 and 14 (and 3.5). You can't say he's not even close.

Camby just couldn't stay on the court, of course, only an idiot would think that McDyess, coming of yet another major knee surgery, could.

Lebron deserves some consideration.

Yep, at this point I'd say Brand as well. In addition to his great per-game and shooting % numbers and LA's newfound winning ways (though I think a hefty chunk of that success goes to Cassell), he currently ranks #2 in the NBA in PER at 28.6, behind Iverson (29.5). 82games.com's Roland Rankings as of yesterday, which take into account offensive and defensive PER as well as net +/-, has Brand ranked second, behind Dwyane Wade.

Camby is having a phenomenal season, but not quite an MVP season I think. He is currently 9th in PER at 24.8, and ranks 17th in the Roland Rankings as of yesterday. (Quite surprisingly, his net +/- is essentially break-even at -0.1.)

Brand right now. He is playing excellent and so is his team.

Thats not true. He snuck into the playoffs averaging 30 and 8 last year and was almost never mentioned among MVP candidates last year.
He's got the little guy factor, it always wins. Thats what explains Nate's popularity/.

He was mentioned all the time last year. I think he was top 5 in voting.

BRAND. You try and make winners out of the Clippers. The man deserves Man of the Year if he could get that team into the playoffs.

I haven't watched as much clipper b ball as I would have liked, but there is something about cassell- he is a gutsy winner. I'd probably vote for him over brand- I think its been his influence as much as anyones...

Cassell's been huge for the Clips, and I'd probably attribute their turnaround more to him than Brand. But I'd still go with Brand for MVP as he seems to have taken his game to the next level. He's playing out of his mind right now.

yeah, funny thing about Cassell: very quietly has won two rings, took a team with Glenn "cancer" Robinson and Tim "cancer" Thomas deep in the playoffs, was the first guy to get KG out of the first round and now it looks like he'll be the guy who helps get Brand to the playoffs for the first time. He's an underrated player.

I'd agree on Brand. LeBron is getting close. I wouldn't call him the next Michael Jordan, but he may have the same effect on the league in a couple of years.
