He's a kid. He had a dog fighting incident. Hopefully he's moved on. It's not like he committed rape or murder.

I hope so too, Zeke has a great eye for talent. D. Johnson started for the Nuggets a couple of times this season too so if Zeke picks him up we will have a steal.

I am curious to see what that dog-fighting case was all about. Did he really fight a dog or let his dog fight another dog? It could be he was released due to the Blazers trying to clean up their image.

It may not be a big deal for some people, but to me that's dispicable and someone like that deserves to be looked down upon.

I agree it's appalling but I also believe in second chances

I would be very happy if Woods is the surprise!

I would be happy too.....this guy Woods looked really good in summer league a few years back. He is a cross between Ruben Patterson and Sprewell....just taller.

We'll see........ESPN is so annoying.

I'm not going to go crazy about this move. I like the chance, Isiah seems to have a keen eye for picking up guys like this and getting the most of them, couple that with Larry Brown, I think Qyntel could have a shot of playing like he should. I'll be honest, I don't know much about Qyntel since he didn't play in college and he's never played all that much in the NBA. For one thing, he can't be much worse than Matt Barnes so as of right now I like the move.

Yeah I believe in second chances too......even though dog fighting is like one of the worst things you can ever do to an animal....aside from maybe **** fighting.

Hey I once stuck two fighting fish(Betas) in the same tank and watched them give each other 3 fatal blows where one died instantly and the other died in a week.....I cried like a baby cuz I didn't think they would fight so fast and furiously.....

Like I said everyone deserves a second chance.

ITs part of Isiahs way of being creative to find players!

Some work, some don't.

He will be on a short leash (pun intended!) and perhaps it works out.

Lets not be to pretentious, its just business!

What, you mean like Ruben Patterson? C'mon, if people here were willing to overlook Patterson's skeletons, they should be willing to overlook Qyntel's as well. Not saying that you *should* overlook it, just that if you overlook one you should overlook the other.

If this is the move, it makes some sense. Definitely fits into Zeke's beating the bush pattern of looking for low risk, high reward guys to get on the cheap. DerMarr didn't really pan out for us but it looks like Butler might. If Woods doesn't work out here, no big deal, we just cut him and pay his minimal salary for the rest of the year. If he does catch on, we get another piece of the long term puzzle essentially for free. Not a bad move to make at all.

Hey, all the report says is Zeke is working him out. He worked out a couple of guys before and didn't sign them. Eddie Robinson, anyone? Also, that crazy guy from Dallas who tried to commit suicide by overdosing on aspirin.

DeMarr was a big suprise.....and he is kicking ass in Denver FYI.....Hopefully this time Woods can blossom as a Knick and stick rather than cleaning the rust off here and then carving his path on another team.

Dog abuse and marijuana possession? Second chances? This cat has been given 9 lives, no thank you.

True. I think we were indeed about to sign Robinson though, but didn't because of his foot injury.

Here's a good summary of the case, with updates:

http://www.pet-abuse.com/cases/2787/OR/US/1/print
Trail Blazer forward Qyntel Woods allegedly abandoned a 2 year old female pit bull on Saturday afternoon. The dog was found with fresh puncture wounds, scars, bruising and worms. She was also covered with hot tar, a cheap antiseptic used by people who fight pit bulls.

"I was going to breed it with my other dog, but they didn't take, so I just decided to get rid of it," Woods told KATU News when asked about Hollywood.

Wow.....

How is he human?
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

not saying what he did was right but maybe he was scared to take his dog to a pound so he thought he would not have any attention from the law if he abandoned it....

but...im willing to give him another chance....if he ****s up..he ****s up...he has good size and can shoot..hopefully he has learned and will flourish in the future

have any of you guys grow up with that idiot on the block? the guy that lives at home with his parents, doesn't work, and whatever money he does get, he buys some kicks or a brand new knicks hat only to go back home and live in a bedroom in his parents apartment?

i know a bunch of these guys. most of them are not educated in school. therefore they really don't know anything. dog fighting? that's some straight up ghetto ish you see in DMX videos. when you're biggest influence is what's airing on BET or MTv, then there's going to be these type of people.

he's 24 now so hopefully's he grown up a bit, and yes, everyone deserves a 2nd chance. but i learned long ago that you can't expect others to behave like you would and everyone makes mistakes. maybe this mistake is what opened his eyes.
